Ford Woodie Wagon. 1935 Ford Phantom Woodie Wagon Offered for sale is one of the most spectacular rides to ever come to market. This car was custom built from the ground up and the attention to detail is astounding. Originally an authentic 1935 Ford four door wagon, it has been transformed -- the original design reworked to produce a restomod phantom two door wagon with modern comfort and safety features. This Ford woodie is perhaps the best of its kind. It is a consistent award winner, not just in its class, but as the Best of Show at regional and national events. Since only 4536 of them were ever built, this wagon was rare to begin with, but it is one of a kind now. An estimated $150,000 went into the creation of this vehicle -- and it shows. This car rests on a Roadster Shop chassis with polished Mustang II independent front suspension and 4 bar articulated rear air ride suspension. A healthy 454 CID Chevy V8 engine resides under the power actuated hood and a ruggedized TH350 transmission hooks up to a 9 inch Ford Positraction rear end. Everything under the hood is polished or plated and sparkles like a diamond. A big Griffin aluminum radiator provides the cooling and big aluminized exhaust pipes announce assertively that this wagon doesnt have the old flathead mill any more. Perfect. That is the only word that describes the outstanding presentation of this stunning wagon. The original Ford steel body is as nice as the day it came from the stamping mill in 1935. Finished in rich Neon Blue, every square inch of the car is impeccable. The custom crafted two door body (Ford did not make a 2 door wagon in 1935) is an artful blend of three types of maple, polished like the finest furniture with 7 coats of spar varnish. The forward slanted B pillars and the moderately chopped top are hand formed. The top is covered in blue Hartz cloth, and elegantly arcs over the wide expanse of tinted glass in the rear. The aft hatch and tailgate are hand hewn and fit as precisely as a fine piano. The car is fully insulated and does not creak, squeak, or rattle on the road. Did we say that there is some wood on this car? Indeed, a lot of it. Each and every plank that was used in the construction of this wagon was selected for matching grain and color. Exquisite craftsmanship is readily evident, from the front doors to the cargo compartment. Finger joints are covertly placed and minimal. Months of painstaking work went into contouring and finishing the brightwork on this outstanding woodie, and the subtle details of construction are numerous. Even the outside rear view mirrors are carved from maple stock. The door handles are clandestinely hidden. The headliner is a matrix of lattice patterned beams that is so stunning you almost miss the craftsmanship that went into the beautiful leather interior. Teas seats are wrapped in tan leather with blue piping to complement the exterior paint, and faux ostrich accents add luxury to the door panels, console and steering wheel. The dash houses a full array of white faced VDO instruments. A Vintage Air heating and air conditioning system, remotely controlled electric door poppers, power windows, a first quality AM/FM/CD/DVD sound system, plentiful inside convenience lighting, and a Flaming River polished tilt steering column round out the creature features in this special phantom wagon. Cruising is a dream in this car. Polished Intro rims and Nitto high performance low profile tires give this ride the just right stance that makes it stand out at any show. If all the interior of this dazzling wagon were removed, there wouldnt be room for the trophies and awards it has won. |
