You know that car you always see with the crowd around it at the local cruise night? Welland#44; this is it. Beautifully finishedand#44; this 1937 Ford slantback 2-door sedan shows off what the ideal combination of modifications and style can do to what was once just a transportation appliance. OKand#44; so nobody will ever accuse the 1937 Fords of being uglyand#44; so thats probably why the guys who built this one left the sheetmetal alone. No chopped topand#44; no radical de-trimmingand#44; and no outrageous paint joband#44; just cleanand#44; honest Ford steel in the original shape. Of courseand#44; fit and finish are worlds beyond what Henry could manage in 1937and#44; even if he were willing to spend the money to get it to this level. Look closely and youll note a few modsand#44; including Veed windshield and blue dot taillightsand#44; but given how good it looksand#44; you wont get more attention with radical modifications. The body was smoothed and finished to a very high standard before several coats of black paint went onand#44; which gives it an appropriate look. Its got a few signs of use and ageand#44; but if you appreciate the classic look and just want to update the driving experienceand#44; this is your car. The interior is the kind of place that youd be happy to spend a weekend or moreand#44; thanks to comprehensive upgrades that make it as comfortable as a modern luxury car. The front seats are custom gray leather buckets and in back the original bench has been retained and covered in the same stuffand#44; so its bright and airy with a strong sense of style. Gorgeous custom door panels are attractive and functionaland#44; but not over-doneand#44; so they work rather well with the rest of the car. The original dash has been painted to match the bodywork and the stock instrument panel has given way to a trio of gorgeous gauges from VDO. A powerful A/C systemand#44; eyeball ventsand#44; and an AM/FM/CD stereo head unit are fitted into the center of the dahand#44; and its so neatly integrated that youll have a hard time believing that Ford wasnt building them this way in 1937. A late-model GM steering wheel lives atop a tilt column and aside from some light stains on the custom floor matsand#44; it looks quite fresh. Under that slanting deck lidand#44; youll find a surprisingly spacious trunk thats fully upholstered and includes a space-saver spare with its own custom cover. The engine is a 350 cubic inch Chevrolet V8and#44; so you know its powerful and reliable out on the road. Fully dressed with lots of chromeand#44; this will be part of the reason for the crowd forming around this car. A Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor atop an aluminum intake manifold is a time-tested combinationand#44; and the dual exhaust system was built as much for sound as for performanceand#44; because this car sounds amazing. The front suspension is a Mustang II type setup with disc brakes and rack-and-pinion steeringand#44; while out back theres an 8-inch axle hanging on leaf springs. The quality of the workmanship is evident everywhere you lookand#44; and the fact that its been driven and enjoyed means that its all sorted out and ready to enjoy. Shiny billet aluminum wheels are a classic look and theyre wrapped in sensibly-sized 215/75/15 rubberand#44; so it rides well and doesnt rub on sharp turnsand#44; which is always important if youre actually going to drive your rod. Expertly engineered and nicely finishedand#44; this is the car youve been dreaming about driving this summer. Call today! |
