1940 Oldsmobile Series 70 sedan -This beautiful Olds sedan has won 28 awards out of 28 entries including most recently the Gilmore Oil Invitational at The Grove in West Los Angeles on June 6th of this year. The craftsman who I bought it from (Philip) took a low mileage Olds (53,000 miles) and performed an incredible 3 year restoration. He built it to drive and win prizes and that is exactly what it does. It runs and drives as great as it looks. The original inline 6 cylinder was rebuilt along with the trans and rear end. The brake system, exhaust and cooling systems are perfect. Philip kept the 6 volt system which works well. Suspension is tight and steers straight on its 4 Coker radial tires. He made sure the turn signals worked well along with all other lights and dual horns. Enjoy looking at the incredible details in the pictures. The interior door and window crank handles were disassembled, chromed, new knobs sourced and reinstalled on newly made door panels. All the glass and chrome is in fantastic condition. The dash was completely disassembled and painted. Gauges work, as do interior lights, wipers, clock etc; radio does not. Now for the obvious........the paint job on this classic is second to none. There are over 700 hours of preparation! There is not a finer black paint job on an Olds anywhere! Philip sourced NOS parts when available and re-chromed/rebuilt when it was appropriate or necessary. If the Nethercutt or Petersen Museums paid to have this car done to this level it would cost over $100,000!! This classic sedan comes with the movie props shown in the back seat (Tommy gun, suit case full of original sales lit, etc.) as well as a shelf full of remanufactured parts (carbs, generator, fuel pumps, distributor, gauges, trim). You are buying a piece of American history that you can enjoy at the same time knowing it is only going to increase in value.
