This is a very rare 1945 Ford F1 pickup, they were made available on a limited basis for some business and farms. Black of course was the color and as chrome was a precious commodity, bumpers, grills, etc were painted yellow. This prize was literally found in a very nice barn in Iowa.This restoration started with an almost perfect truck (no dents, no serious rust anywhere, and an engine that ran well) in 2005. My friend that began to dismantle the truck for restoration realized it was too big a project for him to tackle. He didnt feel he had the expertise or time to really do it right. I took purchased the truck from him and knowing that I wasnt capable of doing it well, researched and choose Liberty Auto Restoration, Inc. to perform the work. It was a 2 year project with over 650 hours invested (back than it was at a shop rate of $40.00/hr. (going rate now is > $80.00)The flathead V-8* went through a total re-build after the block was magnafluxed (some of the blocks cast in that era were prone to cracks). All new bearings, rods, pistons, valves, seals, etc were replaced. I have all the receipts and paper work.A new red oak bed was installed as the frame up restoration proceeded. Interior was supplied by LeBaron Bonney. New Coker tires match the originals.Would not be parting with this keeper if not for a divorce. Over $37,000 invested, asking $14,500.00*I first fell in love with those engines growing up when a neighbor sold me a 1940 Ford Deluxe coupe for $100.00 in 1960 - wish I still had that car!
