| Details: | Produced by Buick from 1936 to 1958, the Buick Roadmaster-series cars rode on Buickandrsquo;s longest non-limousine chassis and from 1946 to 1957 served as Buickandrsquo;s flagship model, that is, their top of the line automobile. Although the chrome was toned down after 1945, the Buick Roadmasters still lived up to their namesake with their sleek design and comfortable ride. This 1947 Buick Series 70 Roadmaster Sedanette is a two-door, six-passenger fastback coupe and is powered by a 320ci Fireball Dynaflash straight eight cylinder engine mated to a three-speed column shifted manual transmission. With 144 horsepower and 276 ft. lbs. of torque, this andrsquo;47 Roadmaster might not win any drag races, but it runs smooth with plenty of power and has no trouble getting motivated. Although restored at one point in its life the Buick shows nicely and still wears the same color combination indicated on its cowl tag, Brunswick Green with a gray cloth interior, both of which show well for their age with no major blemishes. Inside the interior, the dash features a speedometer with trip meter along with gauges for water temperature, oil pressure, charging amperage, and fuel level while other features include an original Buick Sonomatic radio and clock along with an original accessory flexible steering wheel. Additionally, the Roadmaster retains most of its original glass which is all dated 1947 with the exception of the driver side window and rear window, which have been replaced at one point. The Buick rides on a set of Denman Classic IV G78-15 wide whitewall tires mounted on a set of original wheels with the correct Roadmaster hubcaps. Finally, the finishing touch on this Roadmaster is a set of original 1947 California license plates that are currently registered to the car and will go to the new owner. Overall, this 1947 Roadmaster is a wonderful example of a post-war Buick and shows very well for its age, and with only 19,212 Sedanettes built in andrsquo;47, its value is sure to increase as time rolls on. |
