1947 Lincoln Other for sale $47,500

The Lincoln 1947 Lincoln Convertible Coupe (not a Continental) is the rarest of the post war Lincoln models with only 384 made in 1947. This car was painstakingly restored over several years by Ray Owen a very knowledgeable Lincoln-o-file in Dearborn, Michigan, who recently passed away at the age of 87. I am delighted with the quality of the restoration but I have made the decision to part with this beautiful car because I am moving to a high rise condominium.

We started with a rust free car and spared no expense on this restoration because the car is so rare: $16,000 full leather and correct interior, new paint, new wiring harness, new convertible top, and new tires. The V-12 engine, overdrive gear, and hydraulic systems have been completely overhauled and the car runs and drives nicely. Ray Owen reworked the water and oil circulation ports in the block so that this engine is actually improved in terms of performance from when it came from the factory. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED BY THISCONVERTIBLE COUPE IN THIS CONDITON.

The critical items that are impossible to find when restoring such a car are all NOS or excellent specimens: fender skirts, tail light bezels, stainless rocker panel mouldings, hood ornament, steering wheel, dash gauges andamp; speedometer, Lincoln cloisonne medallions, correct air cleaner, etc.

Recent Old Car Price Guide value of a #1 car is $52,500 down from $75,000 in 2014, and $38,500 for a #2 car, down from $52,500 in 2014. I believe this car a #2++.

The car is presently in Ray Owenandrsquo;s shop in Dearborn, Michigan a suburb of Detroit. This car would be a great addition to anyoneandrsquo;s collection of fine cars.

Car originally shipped to Barnard Motors, Anderson, Indiana on February 24, 1947

Acquired by Leighton Phillips a Lincoln dealer in Rockville, Indiana in the early 1950andrsquo;s who

changed the exterior color from green to white.

andgt; Sold to Tod Jurritsma of Terra Haute, Indiana, a civic leader who repainted it original green.

andgt; After Jurritsmaandrsquo;s death in 1977, the car was sold to a collector in Garland, Texas who was

later convicted of a felony and sent to jail.

andgt; In 1986, the car was taken in payment by James Wedding a lawyer in Marshall, Texas who

represented the previous owner in his legal defense.

andgt; John Waid, a Lincoln enthusiast in New Orleans was told about a big green car stored in the back room at an auto parts

house in Marshall Texas that looked like a Lincoln..

andgt; Upon visiting the car Waid identified it as the rarest of Lincoln models, the standard Lincoln

Convertible Coupe, a complete car in original condition (leather upholstery under several

sets of seat covers). The owner James Wedding did not want to sell.

andgt; John Waid met Ramon Owen in 1995 while attending the LCOC Lincoln 75th Anniversary in Dearborn, Michigan

Ray possessed in depth knowledge of the post war Lincolns and had restored numerous Lincoln and Continental V-12s.

andgt; Waid acquired the convertible coupe from Mr. Wedding in 1999, began acquiring NOS parts, and planning a complete restoration.

andgt; Ray Owen agreed to restore the car and it was sent to Dearborn. The complete restoration took three years.
