One of the first pillarless hardtops ever produced, the Series 62 was lavishly outfitted with the new 331/150 HP Cadillac V-8 with Hydra-Matic transmission, power steering, windshield washers, power windows and front seat, under-seat heaters and a Wonderbar radio with power antenna. This exampleandrsquo;s well-preserved Black paint and brilliant chrome are beautifully accented with new high-quality Diamondback wide Whitewall radial tires on chromed Kelsey Hayes-style wire wheels. It has been extensively overhauled mechanically to provide the utmost in motoring pleasure for its new owner. The mechanical overhaul included flushing and replacing the vital fluids including oils and coolant, retorquing the engine and transmission bolts, replacing filters and belts and a comprehensive engine tune-up. A four-wheel brake inspection revealed all drums, wheel cylinders and shoes to be in excellent condition; all brake hoses were replaced, and the entire system was purged and refilled. The power steering system was overhauled with new hoses and belts. New shock absorbers were installed and a professional alignment performed, and a custom large-diameter sway bar patterned after the smaller original was installed, resulting in noticeably improved handling. New vacuum hoses to the windshield wipers, washers, and radio antenna were installed along with fresh wiper blades and washer pump. All interior coverings were replaced with leather to match the original materials; new original-type carpets were also installed along with weather stripping as needed (a complete new kit is included). The trunk interior was likewise renewed and insulation added to the underside of the hood. The original GM frame paint and undercoating are in excellent condition, and were refreshed with a simple wiping down. Finally the car was claybar detailed and the exterior paint and chrome was waxed to their present gleaming finish. |
