Frame-off restored with correct Flathead power and featuring overdrive for modern cruising! Power top, deluxe radio, Magic-Air heat/defrost and more! This is certainly amongst the nicest that money will buy! Fordandrsquo;s first post-war chassis debuted in June 1948 at the Waldorf-Astoria hotel as 1949 models. Known today as the shoebox, this new Ford brought the styling into the times, with slab-sided but handsome body lines, uprated engines and a myriad body styles to choose from. Among the most popular was the convertible; strengthened by an additional x-brace underneath, the drop top was a fun and stylish way to cruise at the turn of the half century. Today, these shoeboxes remain popular with enthusiasts for their style, power and sound! We are very excited to offer this 1950 Ford Custom Convertible! Finished in Black over Black and Red vinyl interior and tan Haartz cloth soft top, this car wears the quintessential colors of an early 50s performance car! The car is fitted with a correct 239ci Flathead V8 with 6.8:1 8RT heads and intake making 100 horsepower as well as a 3-speed manual transmission with overdrive! Notable features and options include power top with glass window, frontandamp; rear bumper guards, oil bath air cleaner, V8 exhaust turndown, chrome driver side-view mirror, day/night rear-view mirror, deluxe pushbutton radio, Magic-Air heater/defroster, working electric dash clock, rubber floor mat, added turn signals and more! The car rides on Ford hubcaps with trim rings wrapped in 6.70-15 Firestone Deluxe Champion gum-dipped wide whitewall tires! Thisspecial Customwas frame-off restored around 2010 including full engine overhaul and only driven about 1,000 miles since. More recently, the car had a carburetor and fuel system rebuild and gas tank flush, front end alignment and brake system overhaul. Originally a California car, this Ford has spent the last few years in the Southeast US (Tennessee and Georgia in particular) and only driven on nice and sunny days! For added convenience, the car has been upgraded with an electric fuel pump while retaining proper 6V charging. Included is a black boot cover, 1950 Ford ownerandrsquo;s manual, clock instruction booklet, and full spare, jack andamp; lug wrench. The interior and exterior will show only the most minor signs of use and will continue to dazzle onlookers out in the sun. The underhood presentation is worthy of showing, with gloss and semi-gloss appearances throughout and proper Ford Model 94 carburetor. Likewise, the undercarriage is highly detailed and has many new components including suspension, brakes, and exhaust system. Similarly, the driveshaft has been rebalanced. The floor pans appear as factory new, with a smooth chassis from front to back! While Ford managed to build 50,299 of these convertible coupes in 1950, very few have survived as well as this one. With many popular options, this example is a handsome testament to early 50s Ford style and will make the next owner very happy both on the road and at shows. We would invite any interested parties to call with additional questions! Thanks for looking! |
