1951 Chevrolet Fleetline There is no arguing that there is just something about classic cars that everyone loves. The sleek body lines demand attention and the designs of older cars seem far more complex than the plastic autos being produced in the current decade. One of the most beautifully designed cars of the past has to be the 51 Chevrolet Fleetline. The front and rear fenders have a distinct look and were still separated from the body where they would be later incorporated in 55. The gradual sloping roofline appears to stretch all the way from the front windshield to the rear bumper. One look at the car and you think...they just dont make them like they used to. This awesome classic takes those body lines and accents them with the perfect combination of Black and chrome. When Black paint is done right it is extremely obvious and any painter will tell you this is one of the hardest colors to lay down. The 2 stage paint has been color sanded and completely buffed out. This car has that perfect depth and with all the chrome/stainless being redone the car has a mirror like finish. All of the correct trim pieces are there except for the hood where a custom after market ornament was added. The car underwent a complete body off restoration that took approximately 3.5 years to complete. Everything was gone through and rebuilt to new quality or replaced. Prior to the restoration the car was very solid with all of the panels in good condition. The glass was all replaced with new with the restoration and has been topped with a slight tint. All of the electrical is working properly and the taillights are fitted with old school blue dots in the center. The Vintique rally 68 wheels with center chrome on the car work perfectly with the overall look. They combine a vintage style of wheels with modern touches to give them that unique appearance. Front tires are 225-55R16 and rear tires are 255-50R17. Powering up the car is a very strong new crate 330HP 350 V8 that runs extremely well. It has a smooth idle and starts up with no issues. It looks just as great as it runs with multiple billet, chrome, and polished upgrades to show off with the hood up. The Frontrunner serpentine belt system and matching valve covers plus air cleaner are some of these components. The car doesnt have any heating issues utilizing the aluminum Griffin radiator and Sidewinder electric fan. This fan set up allows for less clearance space because it is being power by a remote mounted motor off to the side. Backing the engine is the rebuilt Turbo 350 transmission that shoots power back through the 9 Ford rear end to the rear wheels. A new gear vendor unit has been added and with 3:50 gears you will be cruising around 70mph while the tach reads 2100RPM. A Mustang II front end is in place and with that upgrade came a power rack and pinion steering system. Chassis Engineering leaf springs are in rear completing the suspension to give you a smooth ride. All of the brakes are power assisted with discs being added up front. Another important feature to mention is the new 16 gallon fuel tank that was built by Tanks. The interior of the car is done in an original style but has a fresh new look. The original seats are done in all beige leather and are extremely comfortable. All of the upholstery looks new from the carpeting to the Suede headliner. The Black on the dash along with the chrome trim looks just as nice as the body. All of the original gauges are in place but have been reworked and restored. These components as well as all other electrical works properly with assistance from the Painless wiring harness. A classic AC system has been added with all of the vents custom inset into a lower dash section that was built to avoid cutting into the original steel. This is the type of attention to detail that really sets this car apart from all of the other 51s out there. The sound system was done in a similar way with the XM satellite box hidden in the trunk. It is an Alpine
