Details: Mercury Coupe. This is one of the straightest, unmolested Mercury coupes surviving today. It does not have radical custom features like so many of this model do -- no chopped top, no extended fenders, no butchering of the suspension system. This is a ride that was designed for the right look, but with reliability and drivability in mind. Between the custom fabricated bumpers is an eye popping ride with all the right stuff for easy cruisin, great highway driving, and head snapping acceleration.

The sleek Brandywine exterior is as smooth as glass and there are no ripples, dings, dents, or nicks on this car anywhere. A close up look shows there are some minimal scratches on the right rear quarter panel, otherwise the finish is flawless. This Merc has lived in the Nevada desert for decades, so there aint no rust. All the bright work is like factory fresh. One-off bumpers incorporate center sections from a 1953 Kaiser, the grille is full of iconic 1953 DeSoto teeth, the taillights are trimmed and stacked 1953 Mercury lenses, and the side trim was donated by a 1955 Pontiac. The hood is nicely rounded at the corners and displays handcrafted scoops. Frenched headlights and radio antenna, Appleton and flush mounting skirts show the attention to detail in this car. Custom chrome rims set off the wide whitewall tires for a timeless presentation.

To add to the smooth look of this ride, bronze tinted glass has been installed in the side windows and the original rear window. Rubber weather stripping around the windows and doors has been replaced. This cruiser has electric windshield wipers, Vintage Air Conditioning, and an AM/FM/CD sound system. A GM tilt steering column features a custom steering wheel that easily maneuvers this cool sled around. The power bench seat in front and wraparound back seat are finished in ivory vinyl. Nostalgic laminated knobs and pinstriping accents are period perfect.

This coupe is powered by a highly detailed, proven and strong Chevy 350 CID crate motor that will take this car thousands of trouble free miles. The engine is backed by a GM 700R4 automatic overdrive transmission that gives the car a great launch and excellent freeway economy. A big aluminum radiator ensures this sweet Merc runs cool on the hottest days, even with the AC cranked up high. The car rides on a 72 Pontiac LeMans chassis, giving it cloud like comfort for four passengers. Keyless entry and a lift ram on the trunk lid make this ride user friendly for whatever purpose you have in mind.
It has power steering and power disk brakes, of course. For more than 60 years, the 1951 coupe has been the most popular model Mercury ever produced. Where custom cars are concerned, it is the pinnacle of the art. If you ever wanted one of these cars, it is unlikely you would find one uncut in as fine a condition as this car. If you just cant get through the day without running a chop saw, this car would be a perfect candidate for a lid drop, too. Offered at a price that is not out of sight, here is a way cool custom that is out of this world. Thanks for looking!
