ENGINE A No compression test was performed. Engine block number is XPAG/TD/8063. This engine is the correct style, for one that came with the car. It is an early TD engine, with external oil filter. The original oil filter style has been replaced with a spin-on oil filter adapter. Makes changing filters much easier. The cylinder head casting number of 22952 is correct for this year car. It is a short reach head, requiring the 1/2 reach spark plugs. Engine has the 5 quart oil pan installed. NGK B6HS plugs are installed. Camshaft installed is a 0.012 clearance camshaft, for valve setting. Engine was rebuilt by John Seim in 2003, along with correct engine for car. Original matching serial number engine (XPAG/TD/LHX6783) had been rebuild, and comes with the car as well.EXHAUST AA No problems found. Looked like either a new stainless steel exhaust system, or an aluminum coated steel system has been installed. Dual exhaust manifold on the engine. A two into one header pipe bolts by flange to the muffler. The supercharger can be removed, as well as the dual exhaust manifolds, and the original intake and exhaust manifolds can be fitted. Exhaust pipe for single exhaust manifold has a flange mount to muffler as well. The exhaust pipe used is a larger diameter than stock, to accommodate supercharger needs. FUEL SYSTEM B Car has a single S.U. Fuel pump, mounted on the firewall. Carburetor is a single S.U, H4, attached to a Marshall/Nordec Supercharger. The spare engine carburetors are 1 1/4 S.U. H2. Correct for this car. Original air cleaner manifold and oil bath air cleaner might be with spare engine. A secondary fuel pump, made by Airtex, has been installed using the securing bolt of the right rear hydraulic damper. IGNITION EQUIPMENT C Car is equipped with a Pertronix electronic ignition system. Distributor rotation is counterclockwise. Firing order is 1-3-4-2. COOLING SYSTEM D All water hoses looked to be in good condition. No water leaks were found. Checked coolant, and was rust free. Radiator core is a 3 pass core, correct style. Fan is the 7 Blade plastic fan, used on MGB. Greatly improves air flow at low speed. A Messko motormeter has been installed in the radiator cap. FLYWHEEL AND CLUTCH E Tested OK. Car originally equipped with a cable operated clutch. Current clutch linkage is Datsun B210 from clutch pedal to lever on engine, and MG TD link rod, from lever to transmission shaft lever. Clutch pressure plate is modified MGB. Friction disc is from Datsun B210. GEARBOX F Tested OK. Installed is a Datsun B210 5-speed. The original MOWOG 4 speed transmission goes with this sale. Has 7 1.4 clutch installed; correct for model. PROPELLER SHAFT G Original drive shaft for MG TD/TF is not installed. A new driveshaft was supplied for use with the Datsun B210 5 speed conversion kit. No problems seen. REAR AXLE H Rear end ratio has been up-rated to 4.3:1 ratio. MGA gears, fitted to the MG TD/TF differential housing. REAR ROAD SPRINGS I No problems found. STEERING GEAR J The steering rack boots appeared to be OK. Use 90W gear oil in the steering rack. Steering wheel is a stock MG TD/TF wheel, with a walnut wood trim hand grip. Nice accessory piece. FRONT SUSPENSION K Front A-arm bushings have been replaced, with urethane bushings. HYDRAULIC DAMPERS L Performed a bounce test on the car. All shocks found to be in working order, and dampened oscillation very quickly. Armstrong hydraulic dampers were installed all around. BRAKING SYSTEM M Brake system requires use of either Castrol GT/LMA brake fluid, or silicone brake fluid. No fluid leaks observed. Tested brakes, perfect stopping power. Parking brake holds car. Occasionally, check the adjusters for the front (2) and rear (1) brakes. Tighten until cannot tighten any more, then back off one
