1952 Mercury Monterey Presenting a very original 52 Monterey, which is in incredible condition. Solid from top to bottom: The sheet metal, floors and frame are all good, theres no bad news anywhere. This particular 52 Mercury was displayed in a museum for years before undergoing a mechanical refresh. Today, its ready to be driven, shown, and enjoyed. This was the first year the Monterey was available as a convertible. Under the hood is a 255 CI Mercury flathead V8, which is coupled with a Merc-O-Matic automatic transmission. The car has an in-dash clock and push button radio, chrome windshield frame and beltline trim, and both front and rear bumper guards. On the outside are front driving lights, classic full size wheel covers, and Wide Whitewall tires. Finished in Lakewood Green paint with a Green top. Boot Green leather interior and White inserts, Aircraft-style lever controls for the heater/defroster and ventilation controls. In the dash sits a 110 MPH speedometer with temperature, fuel, oil and battery gauges. The new model Monterey was part of Fords company-wide redesign project. The Monterey became its own model in 1952, one year after its introduction, with a taller and more squared shape than the 1949-51 Ford and Mercury models. This was the most expensive Monterey available in 1952, priced at $2,370. The Montereyandrsquo;s tasteful styling features a full width front grille, quarter panel bright trim, and imitation front and body side intake grilles. |
