The important example presented here from 1952 has been restored to concours condition some years ago under the direction of its current owner, a noted Volkswagen authority. This wonderful automobile remains in outstanding condition to this day.

This very rare 1952 Volkswagen Karmann Cabriolet was discovered in 2001 in a Texas field and was acquired in 2002 by its current owner, one of the foremost Volkswagen authorities and collectors in the world. Since then, this important example has been fully restored and become an important part of the ownerandrsquo;s Tennessee based Volkswagen collection. The total cosmetic and mechanical restoration was performed to the highest standards by marque expert Robert Koch of California. The result is that this very early example of the Karmann Cabriolet is an exceptionally attractive example presented with outstanding panel fit and finish as well as being in perfect mechanical condition. The engine has been rebuilt with an unnumbered New Old Stock block to original factory specifications and produces 25 horsepower from its 1131 cc displacement. As a result, this automobile is good for a top speed of about 65 miles per hour.

The body features semaphore turn signals, side air intake doors and a beautifully symmetric Art Deco dash with two glove compartments and a bud vase. The early Cabriolets are noted for their superior build quality and period detailing, and this example is beautifully finished in its original blue exterior, blue leather interior and black Haartz cloth cabriolet top. Since being restored, this Karmann Cabriolet has seen very limited use and therefore remains in exceptional condition throughout.
