Details: 1955 Buick Century Riviera had a production run of 80,338 units, this represents just 9.2% of all 55 Buick Production and few survive to this day. This car original stickered for $2,601(Code 66R) two-door hardtop (chassis 6B2031371) is a 90k mile, built example that remains fully matching numbers and is in excellent condition. Documentation dates back to day one and includes the original registration-- It has been repainted in factory correct Cherokee Red over Dover White. The car remains fully stock outside save for being nosed and decked (hood and trunk trim removed) in the 60s. Chrome and stainless brightwork are in very good condition, while panels align neatly and paint still shines deeply. Its hard to imagine that frumpy old Buick once built such beautifully designed cars, but this one serves as a great reminder of when GM was really riding high on a wave of postwar optimism. The interior is also original and very well-preserved. The higher end 1950s Detroit cars arent normally short on charm, but their interiors are almost always highlights--this Century is no exception! What a feel it is to ride behind the giant, ornate, propeller-themed steering wheel and wraparound windshield, all four windows down. The cars 322 CI V8 is very clean and is good for 236 HP and 330 lb-ft, plenty to propel this big sled to a comfortable 80 MPH cruise. An electric fuel pump has been added to ensure adequate fueling, ignition has been converted to a pointless, electronic system, and front drums have been swapped out for discs, though all original parts are included. Shown from below on a lift, things are just as promising underneath, and both original Briggs and Stratton made keys are part of the sale. Documentation dates to new and the car wins local shows frequently. A custom cover, weather stripping kit, and all converted parts are included in the sale. Further detail on my caretaking of the car: No leaks and no issues for the 3 years I have had her. My Mechanic loves this car. A few small items that the car had when I purchased it 3 years ago that do not show in the pictures or if you are more than two feet from the car: - Small spider crack in the front of hood - Small chip on side of hood (it is really heavy and must have hit when being closed) - Small Paint bubble on the Left Rear Quarter - Small chip on Drivers door (Also must have hit during being closed) She sits in a highly secured controlled indoor facility and has not incurred any damage during my ownership. All the lights, gauges and even the clock work (Set to not run when the car is off to save the battery, but you can switch back if you like). The radio is currently not connected as the hidden Alpine CD changer is in use. The previous owner assured me it worked.
