Details: 1955 Chevrolet Custom Gasser Before Pro Stock was even a thing the Gassers ruled the dragstrip! These cars originated in the late 50s and were the fastest stock appearing race cars around. These cars were stripped of excess weight and raised up to provide better weight distribution on acceleration. Although the purpose was getting the top performance out of their cars, Gasser builders created a look that cemented itself in hotrodding history. While old school car guys appreciate modern customizations you can tell when they take a look at something like this 55 Chevy they are transported back in time to when Hotrodding was born. The current owner purchased this 55 out of Indiana where it was just completed as a pro street car. The motor and transmission were brand new at the time and all the paperwork for the build is available. After getting the car the owner decided to transform it even further by making a period correct Gasser. The build was all professionally done and is high quality throughout. You wont find any weak areas on this car because everything was done right. From the look to the sound and performance this Gasser has it all. You can find plenty of 55 Chevys on the market and will run into one at pretty much every car show you attend but a car like this will stand out wherever it goes. It isnt often we can guarantee you wont ever pull up next to another car like it but that is a pretty easy case to make here. The car is not an active drag car and has never been raced. It was built to be a tribute to the vintage Gassers and is used as a show car. The build was completed 2 years ago and it only has had 1,000 miles since so it is still practically brand new. The body is in great condition and is painted in a nice Maroon paint with custom vintage Gold lettering displaying its name The Rebel on the side. The front bumper is no longer in place but there is still the rear fender trim and rear bumper which have a beautiful shine. The front grill is also present but a custom billet grill replaced the original. The wheels are the right look for that era and those wide rear tires complete that dragstrip ready look. The blower sticking through the hood lets everyone know this thing is more than just a look alike and once you tilt forward the fiberglass front end it is confirmed that this thing was built with performance in mind as well. The 427 motor is a fresh build done by the BRE speed shop in Salida, CA. Everything that was put into the motor was documented and itis covered with chrome/billet components. It features a BDS 871 blower with 3 drive, dual Holley 700cfm blower carburetors, a 140 amp alternator, ceramic coated fender well headers with collectors, polished aluminum oil pan and so much more. It starts up smoothly and runs extremely well. Dont let the blower intimidate you because when these things are built right they just require the standard maintenance you would expect with any vehicle. It has zero heating issues thanks to the aluminum radiator with dual electric fans and even sitting in traffic the car doesnt overheat. The motor is paired with a built up Turbo 400 transmission with BandM shift linkage that sends power back through the chromed drive shaft to the Currie 9 inch Ford rear end with 4.10 gears and a polished aluminum third member. The chassis on the car is fully boxed and powder coated. Looking underneath the car is a good indicator of both the build quality and how well cared for it is. The car was built to be driven and enjoyed but when you are ready to put it in one of the bigger indoor shows the undercarriage is show ready. The car has a chrome ladder bar suspension and up front is a Jim Meyer chrome straight front axel. If you are familiar with racing at all Jim Meyer is definitely a name that is associated with quality suspension components and not only is the engine/transmission new but so is the rear end and suspension. Under all for corners are Wilwood disc brakes with polished billet
Analysis: Poor Deal, 11.0% above market avg. What's this?
