Now THIS is how you do station wagon right! Hemi powerand#44; great bodyworkand#44; room for the familyand#44; and a low-down stance all make this 1955 Dodge Sierra wagon the coolest thing at the next cruise-in. The fact that its also surprisingly affordable and ready to rock is only icing on the cake. Wagons are still hot and when you do them rightand#44; everyone sits up and notices. This fantastic dark green hauler isnt your moms grocery-getter anymoreand#44; its been truly made-over to become something more. The green paint keeps it simpleand#44; no graphicsand#44; stripesand#44; or even fake wood hereand#44; just clean sheetmetal that probably costs fortune to restore since there are exactly zero replacement panels available for something like this. The doors fit welland#44; the tailgate closes up tightand#44; and the whole car has a tightand#44; robust look thats hard to articulate but I bet youre getting it right now by looking at the photos. All the original trim is intactand#44; which is remarkable all by itselfand#44; and makes this big Dodge look far more expensive than it is. The massive bumpers are mirrored by the split grille up front and we love the stainless side trim that terminates in Sierra badges on the rear quarters. And just check out the jet-inspired taillights! Plus you also get those way-cool long boards on the roofand#44; which are secured to a teak rack thats the epitome of station wagon functionality. The interior sticks largely to the original formulaand#44; with bench seatsand#44; striking two-tone green and tan vinyl upholsteryand#44; and lots of room for everyone. That trick steering wheel is custom made but sure looks like it was born in the 1950sand#44; and it frames all the original gauges which remain fully functional with just a little fading on their faces. Beautiful matching door panelsand#44; dark green carpetsand#44; and plenty of chrome accents make this interior a great place to spend some time. Like the bodyworkand#44; there are signs of useand#44; but can you blame a family for wanting to hit the road in this cool wagon? The only notable modification is the AM/FM/CD stereo systemand#44; which is ideal for cruising. As youd expectand#44; theres a giant cargo area thats nicely finished with matching green carpetsand#44; although the painted tailgate shows some wear and tear. After alland#44; who wouldnt want to use this car as intended? The engine is the hottest V8 on the road in the mid-1950sand#44; Chryslers 392 cubic inch HEMI V8. That alone transforms this Dodge from mundane to spectacularand#44; but the fact that its so smoothand#44; torqueyand#44; and civilized means someone spent a lot of time tuning it and getting things right. Theres a Holley 4-barrel on top of the original intakeand#44; along with a Mallory ignition systemand#44; so it fires easily and runs great. Bright chrome accents and some fresh engine enamel make the engine bay worth of showing offand#44; although it was obviously built to driveand#44; not sit in a parking lot. Its backed by a factory automatic transmission and rear endand#44; so itll cruise as well as it did back in the early days of the interstate and with a pair of glasspack mufflersand#44; theres a fantastic V8 burble while you do it. Brakesand#44; steeringand#44; and suspension are all stockand#44; so dont think this is some cobbled-together hot rodand#44; and it drives the way the factory intended. Only the flashy Torque Thrust wheels deviate from stockand#44; but they look so good wearing 215/70/15 BFG radials that nobodys going to complain. This awesome wagon is very easy to love. Comfortableand#44; quickand#44; and ready for just about anythingand#44; its a great way to enjoy a road trip the old-fashioned way. Call today! |
