New for 1957, Fordandrsquo;s line of passenger cars boasted some impressive changes that resulted in a sleeker, safer, better driving and handling car. With new front and rear suspension along with a redesigned driveline and all new wider frame to protect passengers, the new Fords were lower, longer, and wider than previous models, and were so successful that they were the bestselling car of 1957 and even outsold Chevrolet for the first time since 1935, quite an impressive feat when considering how popular the 1957 was and is today. Built September 27th 1956 at the Long Beach Ford plant, this 1957 Fairlane 500 Club Victoria was Fordandrsquo;s top of the line hardtop and features an optional 312ci Y-Block V8 which produces 245 horsepower and is mated to an optional Ford-O-Matic three-speed automatic transmission. Other features on this Fairlane 500 include Swift Sure power brakes and Master-Guide power steering, both of which were optional in 1957 and still work wonderfully. Fully restored in its original paint scheme of Flame Red on Colonial White, the exterior shows very well, and still retains the Fairlane 500-specific gold anodized body panel set inside the chrome side moldings while the Fairlane 500 script on either side of the rear quarter panels has been shaved for a more custom look. Inside the cabin the upholstery and carpet have been redone in white and red vinyl to match the exterior, and an aftermarket Clarion stereo with equalizer has been installed under the dash with a subwoofer and amp located in the trunk, and for safety seatbelts have been added. Besides those upgrades the interior remains stock and even the original Ford AM radio still resides in the dash while outside, the car rides on a set of original wheels with Ford hubcaps which are wrapped in wide whitewall tires for a classic vintage look. Additionally, this andrsquo;57 Fairlane comes with a set of original California black license plates that are believed to be original to car and with it being built in Long Beach, it appears that this Fairlane is an original California car. Overall, this 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Club Victoria shows well and runs like a top and would make a great addition to any collection as a fun cruiser that needs nothing but a new owner to enjoy it.
