This Birds reputation preceded its documentation to our store. We knew we were receiving an over-the-top finished example of Fords 1957 Thunderbird but the 2-inch-thick three-ring binder of details and receipts along with select restoration pictures confirmed what our eyes later told us andmdash; we have a stunning T-Bird. In the binders front pages lies this Birds restoration story and includes a copy of its original factory invoice. In summary, the story goes: Award winning experienced restorer takes Best of Class, Best Paint and Best of Show his first time showing this completely disassembled, stripped to bare metal, and perfectly restored Thunderbird. This show stopper was then sold to a private collection of 100+ classics and has been lovingly cared for and maintained since. Today, everything is as perfect as the day it was finished and being offered to the discerning collector. Recently, the Michigan Thunderbird Club paid us a visit and admired this bird. They give her a big thumbs up while finding a few minor things that were not 100% factory correct (and can be corrected), while teaching us a thing or two andndash; like the dash paint shouldnandrsquo;t be as pretty and glossy as it is. This is a hardtop-only roadster with its original 312CID V8 4BBL engine @245HP and FordOMatic transmission. It rides on authentic 4-ply bias wide white wall tires. The spare is mounted on a Kelsey-Hayes wire wheel as are the four tires on the ground. The body is Torch Red (R code). The interior is XH code red. The underside is body color with the frame and suspension components all powder coated in gloss black. An optional heater/defroster, fender skirts, AM Town and Country radio and power brakes round out this Birds equipment andndash; an impressive package. Only letter Birds bring greater value than this high-horse power icon. The 57 Thunderbird is a collector-favorite.
