HISTORY OF THE MGA With the launch of the MGA at the 1955 Frankfurt Auto Show, MG andndash; or Morris Garage andndash; changed their styling drastically from the pre-war designed T-models. The new car was dubbed First of a new line in the advertisements and instantly captures the attention of the growing worldwide sports car audience, especially in the US. The MGA carried a sleek new body style with flowing and undisturbed lines from front to back. The new chassis featured independent front suspension and rack-and-pinion steering, and the car was capable of a genuine 100 mph. The MGA soon became the best-selling British sports car in the US to date, and many enthusiasts consider the sporty Roadster to be the best looking MG of all time. THIS CAR The MGA offered here carries the classic US-delivery appearance that many MGAs displayed when new, with wide white wall Firestone Deluxe 5.60 - 15 tires on knock-off wire wheels. Built at the Abingdon Works, England the in early part of 1957. It was finished in Royal Ivory cellulose paint from the factory and destined for US shores with a left hand-drive arrangement. Today, this MGA represents very well in a beautiful Royal Ivory over the inviting red handcrafted leather interior. It is fitted with period correct Lucas driving lights, and a new black roadster top. Other features are a pair of rare original MGA 1500 flip-up side curtains. The car comes with an old cars part catalog, lead hammer, and a drivers handbook. The MGA has long been recognized as an icon and the first real modern affordable British sports car.
