| Details: | 1958 Chevrolet Delray If you are looking for a classic that not only looks good but is fun to drive then here is where you stop. This 1958 Chevrolet Delray is one cool street rod that is extremely fun to drive. In addition to being fun the car has proven to be very reliable. The car was originally built in 1996 and the current owner purchased it in 2007. Since completion it has been driven approximately 8,000 miles and has been very well maintained. These cars have a great look with double front headlights, double rear taillights and swooping rear fins that let you know it is definitely a 50s classic. The 58 was really the last year for the 50s look as 1 year later Chevrolet drastically changed the designs. The car is painted in the original color of Rio Red and was repainted in lacquer when the car was built. It is showing some mild crazing on the drivers side fender but still has a great shine. The chrome bumpers and all of the trim is in great shape with no dents or dings and that isnt a common finding on a lot of these 50s classic especially when you consider the trim runs all the way down the side. The glass is all original to the car and has survived for almost 60 years without and chips or cracks. That is a testament to how well this car has been cared for even prior to the build in 96. The original side mirrors have been removed and an aftermarket mirror added to the drivers doorframe to give it more of a street rod look. Contributing to the street rod exterior even more is the very cool American Racing Vintage Silver Torq Thrust wheels. The exterior of the car looks awesome but the drivetrain is really where you get your fun from! This classic is now powered by a big block 468 Chevy motor that has no problem getting those tires spinning. It runs extremely well and looks just as good as it sounds with a nicely finished out engine compartment. The motor is fitted with an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake manifold, Edelbrock Performer RPM aluminum heads, M/T valve covers, a chrome air cleaner, Holley 800cfm carb and MSD ignition. Paired with the engine is a 700R4 transmission with BandM shift kit that transfers power back to the Ford 9 inch positrac rear end with 3:73 gears. It has been converted to disc brakes under all four corners and the are power assisted. Most of the interior is original to the car and, like other features we mentioned, shows how well the car has been taken care of. At first glance you would guess that it had been redone because the seat upholstery is that nice. It is done in a two tone Grey with a split bench seat up front. The headliner has been redone recently as well as the carpet and sun visors which were recovered. The dash has a mostly original appearance except for the added Kenwood AM/FM/CD player and a second gauge pod which was added below the A/C unit to provide complete monitoring of the engine/transmission. The original gauges and bezel have been replaced and are working properly. The trunk is nicely finished out with the original style mat and houses a spare.
