1964 BUICK ELECTRA 225 four door thin-pillar Sedan The Wildcat 445 engine has 235 horsepower in the 401-4 V-8 engine specifically 401 cubic inches, 4-stroke and 10.25 compression ratio. OEM transmission is an automatic three-speed Super Turbine. HISTORY . ELECTRA was the name of a sister-in-law of then BUICK President Harlow H. Curtice who later rose to be President of General Motors. This model was built at Flint, Michigan in three versions namely ELECTRA 225, 225 Limited and 225 Custom. Built as model number 4819 it weighs 4,829 pounds, Owned by one family, mostly in dry, southwest Colorado, it has been covered and garaged unless it was being driven. The odometer reads 145,960 an average of 2,807 miles per year. Length is 188 or 224 with the hitch and width is 80 a necessary fact if it will be hauled in an enclosed car hauler trailer. Features include power steering, brakes and two-speed electric wipers with windshield washer pump and backup lights. Mounted to rear bumper and frame is a factory supplied trailer hitch with estimated capacity of 2000 lbs. A set of snow and ice tire chains for rear traction is in the original storage bag in the trunk. Goodyear (1996 purchase) Decathlon white wall tires P225-75R15 M+S tires made in the USA installed January 1997 at 142,465 miles still in VG condition because they are treated with ArmorAll UV protection. . The trunk floor has original GM floor mat and no rust. The hood has a new sound insulation blanket. Interior fabrics and headliner are in good to excellent condition. Driver side arm rest is worn through the foam beside grab handle. Rear seat driver side has a split seam where Naugahyde meets brocade fabric. In-dash air conditioning has worked fine, but needs converting to R-134. Factory installed seat covers are over the original Naugahyde and brocade furniture fabric matched also on the mid-door panels. There is however one small slit in one seat cover. Lower door panels are carpeted and match the factory carpeting. Floor carpet around the accelerator pedal is faded and has a small hole left of built in rubber pad from high heels. The windshield is full-tint. Eight side windows and rear window are in very good condition; door windows are manually powered. An original GM High fidelity Sonomatic radio gets good reception with a manual antenna. Four attractive traditional BUICK VentiPorts are mounted in the front fender sides. This model BUICK was known by many as a four-holer. Sale includes a Technalon cover, original bumper jack and lug wrench, GM Motor andamp; Chassis manuals, original 1964 sales room brochures, three cans of freon and a can of matching DuPont touch up paint.
