This 1964 Ford F-100 is all about fun. I could tell you all about its specs and its hauling capabilitiesand#44; but the truth isand#44; the guy who put this together had a great time doing it and nothing else in our showroomand#44; regardless of priceand#44; makes people smile like this pickup. If you like your vehicles a little off-beat but very hipand#44; this is your truck. Its possible that the blue paint on this truck is originaland#44; and if its notand#44; its pretty old. Is it the original color? Who cares? It doesnt matter anymoreand#44; because its wearing hand-painted murals on both sides and the tailgateand#44; all showing off Dagwood Bumstead from the famous comic strip Blondie. You may remember that Dagwood was the perpetual sandwich-eating goof-off who somehow landed a hottie wifeand#44; and hes immortalized here doing what he does best. The artwork is quite faithful to the comic strip look and gives the truck a wonderful old-school vibe that goes with rockabilly musicand#44; T-shirts with cigarette packs in the sleevesand#44; and slicked-back hair. Theres more artwork on the tailgate and Blondies face is on the hoodand#44; tying it all together neatly. Details like the painted grille and bumpers go with the white roofand#44; firmly keeping the trucks look in-periodand#44; and the bed has just the right look for something like this: beat upand#44; wornand#44; but not ruinedand#44; so it still works as a pickup and doesnt ever seem to be trying too hard. The interior is just as whimsical as the exteriorand#44; keeping the Fords basic simplicity and trucky durabilityand#44; and adding some fun. The seat cover is a familiar and time-tested addition that works well hereand#44; and its actually quite comfortable for longer haulsand#44; too. Black carpet is the floor covering of choiceand#44; sticking with the low-maintenance themeand#44; and the original Ford gauges cover the basics onlyand#44; nothing more. A fat three-spoke steering wheel on a tilt column is not quite what youd expectand#44; but it actually works in the overall themeand#44; adding an old-school hot rod vibe. Overhead the headliner is composed almost entirely of stickers gathered from everywhere and anywhereand#44; a theme that continues onto the top of the dashboard. Shockinglyand#44; this sucker has fully functional A/C tucked in thereand#44; strongly suggesting that it was built to drive and that you shouldnt judge a book by its cover. The substance of the matter is a 351 cubic inch V8 living under the hoodand#44; which makes this old pickup feel a lot more sprightly than expected. Its not detailed and shinyand#44; but boy does this sucker run! Flames have been painted on the air cleaner just for effect but the rest is designed for ease of maintenance and long-term durability. A 4-barrel carburetor makes the horsepower and youll note that its upgraded with a big alternatorand#44; a new dual master cylinder with power assistand#44; and power steeringand#44; all of which make this truck easy to drive every day. Its linked to a C6 3-speed automatic transmission and a heavy-duty rear endand#44; and the burbling dual exhaust system sounds just about right for a truck that looks like this. Lots of new partsand#44; including fresh brake lines and shocksand#44; mean that this is more than the beater it appears to beand#44; and handsome red steelies with hubcaps and staggered 185/70/15 front and 255/70/15 rear BFGoodrich Silvertown wide whitewall radials add the perfect finishing touch. This is pure fun on wheelsand#44; a cool cruiser that will stand out more than any six-figure build ever couldand#44; and still works well as a truck. Call today! |
