Chevy Biscayne L78 Recreation . This 1965 Chevrolet Biscayne is the textbook definition of sleeper. With that unsuspecting 2-door sedan body style, a bench seat, and even whitewall tires on steel wheels, this car is so low-profile that its practically invisible. The only tip of the hand anywhere on the car are those 396 badges, but by the time youre close enough to read them its already too late. This is a heater and radio delete car as well as not having any other unnecessary frills. The car was relieved of its original six cylinder engine and entirely rebuilt from the ground up. No replacement panels were needed, though minor dents were repaired after the entire body was media blasted. The original cameo beige color was used in a base clear application performed by Specialty Car in Phoenix. The body was removed from the frame and the frame was powder coated. Everything was either replaced with NOS from all over the country, powder coated, re-plated or re-chromed as needed. Though admittedly not a numbers matching car, the most discerning car enthusiast will undoubtedly appreciate the improvements and the efforts to make this car appear 1965 again. Larrys Performance in Montbello, California provided the fresh 454 .030 over ig block using forged pistons and a solid lifter cam shaft. World Products Merlin iron heads with full roller rockers breathe through an Edelbrock performer RPM intake manifold fed by an 800 CFM Holly mechanical secondary carburetor. A reproduction L78 dual snorkel air cleaner wearing 396/425 decals sits on top finishing things off nicely. Hooker ceramic coated headers flow through a 2 1/2 inch exhaust with electronic cut outs, resulting in a conservatively estimated 500 horsepower. A very rare L78 in dash 7,000 RPM tachometer monitors the engine revolutions. A Centerforce clutch with a Lakewood bell housing is mated with a completely new, reengineered Muncie M22 rock crusher 4 speed transmission supplied by Auto Gear Company in New York. A Hurst shifter and cue ball finish off the assembly. An aluminum driveshaft was fabricated by Dennys Drive Shaft, also of New York. A-1 Differential in Phoenix welded the axle tubes to the center section. 31 spline axles with positive axle retention and new Eaton posi-traction with 4.10:1 gears finish off the drive line. Silver Town white wall tires are mounted to original style steel wheels with dog dish hub caps. Custom pinstriped Crager steel wheels with Hoosier radial slicks and MT Sportsman radials are also included. Cars of Tempe provided the original style fawn seat covers and headliner. SMS of Canby Oregon custom fabricated the door trim panels. I do marketing consignments for customers who dont have time to set up ads for their vehicle or dont use the internet.
