On the outside this just looks like a beautifully built 1965 Shelby Cobraand#44; but then everybody else on the track starts wondering why you can smoke them all. Thats because this is a Backdraft Racing Cobra. It means a 450 hp Roush V8and#44; a fully independent suspensionand#44; four-wheel disc brakesand#44; beefy five-speed gearboxand#44; and a whole host of other goodies to make this one of the baddest Cobra youve ever laid eyes on. The paint instantly makes this one a shining star. The Monterey Blue Metallic lives up to its name with a luster so deep its like staring into a California bay. If you know the Backdraft carsand#44; you know that their workmanship is one of the highest regarded in the Cobra industryand#44; and the fit and finish on this particular car is worthy of all the extra scrutiny its likely to get at shows. All the little details are rightand#44; including the shielding over the blue dot headlightsand#44; riveted hoodand#44; fender flaresand#44; full bumpersand#44; and chrome rollover hoop for the driver. Since this one was built to driveand#44; theres even a folding top and polished heat shields on the side pipes that might save your pant leg. And perfectly complementing those shiny side pipes is a set of iconic ten-spoke Halibrand-style knock-off wheels. All Cobras are about offering the wind-in-your-hair purist motoringand#44; but youll instantly notice this one also has been built for a bit more comfort and style. Curvy tan bucket seats look greatand#44; and more importantlyand#44; hold you in place during aggressive driving. The diamond stitching down the center nicely coordinates with the doors. They did a lot of work in this Backdraft Racing replica to give it that authentic feeland#44; ranging from the wood-rimmed steering wheeland#44; to the interior-mounted fire extinguisherand#44; to the four-point racing harnesses for both driver and passenger. But this is also a civilized carand#44; so it has carpetsand#44; a padded dashand#44; and Plexiglas sun visorsand#44; and an AM/FM/CD stereo with Clarion speakers that play loud and clear as you approach triple-digit speeds. Big VDO analog gauges fill the instrument panel with informationand#44; and thats good because theres a lot going on in the engine bay. Once people get over all the shine that comes from opening the hoodand#44; the first question will beand#44; Is it really powered by Roush or are those just the valve covers? You can enthusiastically tell them the virtues of the Roush 342R V8. Its a 342 cubic-inch motor that has been fortified with a forged crankand#44; connecting rodsand#44; and pistons. There are other performance goodies such as Roush aluminum headsand#44; specially prepared roller camand#44; Edelbrock Victor Jr. intakeand#44; Holley 770 CFM four-barrel carburetorand#44; and a whole host of other goodies. Roush dyno tests the motors so that they make sure theres 450 hp right out of the boxand#44; and the header-fed side pies do a great job of announcing all of the power. This is backed up by reliable components such as the Tremec five-speed manual and aluminum radiator with electric fan. On the road or racetrackand#44; youll instantly feel the confidence the fully independent suspension gives you. Plusand#44; theres superior control with the modern grip of the Goodyear Eagle F1 tires that are backed up at each wheel with disc brakes. Built in 2009 and only 10and#44;298 miles put on it sinceand#44; this Cobra is faster and more comfortable than just about anything else you can find. Then when you look at the price for an example thats barely broken inand#44; and welland#44; then you already know how quick you need to be to grab this deal. Call today!!! |
