BODYWORK/TRIM

First off kudos to the guy who chose this basic 300 2-door sedan instead of a garden-variety hardtop. Theres nothing we like more than a sleeper; although it could be argued that a glowing A-Body with a 572 cubic inch big block is hardly stealthy. Right? Right. That said you really cant argue with the clean lines of the 300 series and this car retains 100% of its original factory sheetmetal with the exception of a steel cowl induction hood. Naturally that metal was blasted bare before reconstruction started. To get the car as straight as it is must have taken hundreds of hours of laboriously sanding filling fitting and adjusting. The paint sourced from PPG is so deep and rich that it looks like the body itself was made from some kind of exotic Hugger Orange matter. And theres no metallic pearl or glitter to mask simple and proven aesthetics that in a nutshell simply work.

A quick look at our high resolution photos reveals trim and ornamentation that remain mostly as the General specified. At the front of its body a professionally chromed grille hangs modern halogen headlights and a prominent emblem above a professionally chromed bumper thats complete with small parking lamps. At the top of the car the aforementioned cowl induction hood leads like-new glass thats caged in straight stainless frames and capped windshield wipers. At the sides of the car traditional door handles and a polished bowtie mirror reflect subtle fender emblems and tasteful 300 quarter badging. And out back simple taillights and a second professionally chromed bumper frame a broad CHEVELLE valance script.

ENGINE

Without being too specific or too general if youll allow me to turn a phrase from the last paragraph its safe to say this Chevys fairly stock body hides a fairly radical drivetrain. Toss the tall hood and youll find one of the largest big blocks GM has ever created: a 572 cubic inch monster that cranks out more than 600 horsepower! Breathing through a custom-fabricated air intake the mammoth motor is a literal torque factory. Translation: you really shouldnt try to use first or second gear unless the car is aimed exactly where you want to go. Visually the engine bay takes a decidedly different path than the 300 body showcasing some serious visual flash in the form of color-keyed Proform valve covers a fab-ed and polished radiator and a polished serpentine system thats finished with a chrome alternator a coated water pump and a chrome AC compressor. All wiring including hot MSD ignition has been artfully hidden behind smoothed fenders that along with the cars hood and firewall have been polished to the same high
