Let me start by warning you that if you do not like attention, thumbs up while in traffic, people smiling at you (no you didnandrsquo;t suddenly get good looking, itandrsquo;s the car) or spending an extra 10 minutes at the gas station while people look at and talk about the car with you, then donandrsquo;t bid on this car as it is a real attention grabber! 1966 MUSTANG CONVERTIBLE is Nightmist blue. The whitewalls (looks GREAT with redlines, too) are mounted on STYLE STEEL WHEELS. The paint is clear, shiny and beautiful. The interior is the Deluxe (PONY) INTERIOR with new carpets and door panels. The original white floor mats are included. Inside the car is the original air conditioning unit. However, there is no compressor in the engine bay. The top works flawlessly. There is no known rust on the car and the car has not seen the rain in 10 years as it is always garaged. The body is absolutely straight. The door, hood and trunk lid spaces are even. The chrome is clear and shines brilliantly. Not only is the car an exceptional and beautiful specimen, but it is mechanically exceptional as well. The 289 2 barrel carburater has been upgraded to a 4 barrel (new intake manifold and air cleaner). The dual exhaust ends with chrome exhaust tips and it sounds GREAT with glasspack sounding mufflers. The motor is backed with a 4 speed manual Ford top loader that shifts smooth as silk. The rear end is the standard 8 2:80 ratio. So, with the extra power from the 4 barrel, the car is quick but uses less gas than a 3:50 or 4:11 rear-end would use on the freeway. The manual steering is smooth. You could cruise at 65-70 (or break the law) all day. Iandrsquo;ve installed a Pertronix electronic ignition inside the distributor cap (youll get a set of points and condenser if you want to return it to the old days of technology). You canandrsquo;t see it unless you open the distributor. The electronic ignition improves power and fuel mileage. I also put in a higher power coil. The entire front end is brand new andndash; new A-frames, control arms, ball joints, springs, shocks, shock towers andhellip; everything is new top to bottom. New manual brakes include brake shoes, drums, brake springs, wheel cylinders, on all four corners andhellip; everything was replaced with new parts and all work perfectly. Underneath Iandrsquo;ve had installed frame tubes that make the body more ridged and the engine bay has a chrome re-enforcing bar to make the front-end more rigid. I use it as an occasional weekend fun driver or shopping center car show (it has won three awards) but it could easily be used as a daily driver. You turn the key and it fires right up. Since Iandrsquo;ve owned it, the car has never seen the rain. If not being driven, the car is constantly garaged. The car rarely sees anything but the inside of garage. Insurance (full coverage, zero deductible) runs about $300 per year). Note: The orignial California license plates and dealer frames have value to California buyers. If you are out of state and do not want the plates/frames, Ill keep the plates/frames and reduce the agreed upon price by $150. |
