Details: Remember when you could buy a ragtop Mustang for not a lot of money? Welland#44; those days are rapidly coming to an endand#44; so if youre in the market for Fords perennial favoriteand#44; now is probably the time to buy. Take this handsome Wimbledon White 1966 Mustang convertibleand#44; for instance. It features V8 powerand#44; an unusual bench seat interiorand#44; and proper sorting that makes it a delight to drive.

If theres a more famous carand#44; I cant imagine what it is. With Mustang celebrating its 50th anniversary recentlyand#44; popularity is at an all-time high. Given the clean looks on this convertibleand#44; that shouldnt be a surprise and when youre driving a vintage Mustang convertibleand#44; the entire world is your friend. Theres a chance that the code M Wimbledon White paint is originaland#44; and even if its notand#44; its got some age on it so that youll never worry about people standing too close. The creamy white paint is exactly rightand#44; not too bright like a refrigeratorand#44; but just rightand#44; giving this Mustang a cheerful personality. Panel fit is good all around and unlike many of this cars siblingsand#44; this one hasnt been subjected to questionable modifications and tacky stripes over the years. Nice chrome bumpersand#44; stainless rocker moldingsand#44; and proper emblems round out the list of details that make this car look and feel authentic.

The unusual Parchment interior is a big plusand#44; offering an unusual bench seat that works rather well now that youve seen it. The seats are supportive and comfortable for long hauls and remain in good condition despite being open to the elements much of the timeand#44; and the fold-down armrest is something that the bucket seat cars sorely miss. Black carpets are a nice contrast and theyre surely replacement pieces simply because theyre in such good shape. Camera case black inserts came with the standard interiorand#44; but I think I prefer them to the woodgraining. Theres an updated JVC AM/FM/CD stereo radio below the dashand#44; right above the chrome T-handle shifter for the 3-speed automatic underneathand#44; and it powers a set of modern speakers in custom kick panels ahead of the doors. A white convertible top powers itself up and down easily and stows under a matching Parchment boot. The trunk is also nicely detailed with a correct mat and a full-sized spare tire with coverand#44; just in case.

Hard to go wrong with 289 cubic inches of small block V8 under the hood. This is a C-codeand#44; meaning it has a 2-barrel carburetor and 200 horsepowerand#44; which is plenty in the lightweight Mustang. It looks pretty original with Ford Blue engine enamel and that big air cleanerand#44; so it has a familiar look that has delighted fans for two generations. From experienceand#44; Ill tell you that youll be delighted that this one has factory power steering and with a bubblyand#44; friendly idle and a great V8 bellow at speedand#44; the Flowmaster dual exhaust system is a welcome upgrade. The suspension sits right (no rear end sag!) and between the C4 3-speed automatic transmission and 2.80 gears out backand#44; its a superlative cruiser thats happy in traffic or on the highway. Tidy floors suggest that this car has always lived someplace warm and wont give a new owner any headaches later. Classic styled steel wheels are always the right choice on a 66and#44; and they carry 205/70/14 whitewall radials.

This is the new going price for straightand#44; cleanand#44; V8 Mustang convertiblesand#44; even those needing a little TLC. The old days arent coming back in terms of pricingand#44; but you can certainly relive them with wonderful cars like this. Call today!
