Heres an unusual find: a 1967 Chevrolet Camaro RS thats still an RS! So many of these cars are upgraded to SS specifications during restorations that its almost impossible to keep track of themand#44; so when an honestand#44; nicely finished Rally Sport shows up wearing correct badges and with no storiesand#44; we sit up and take notice. Presented in a great color combination with a strong-running small block V8and#44; this handsome cruiser is just the thing for those Saturday night cruises and Sunday afternoons at the strip. Given that the cowl tag says this car was originally code T Capri Cream with a code 6 Fawn Beige vinyl topand#44; I think its safe to say changing the colors on this one was a smart idea. Now Grenada Gold with a cream bumblebee stripe and matching vinyl topand#44; its an elegant and unusual color combination that wont go out of style like the original combination obviously did. Fortunatelyand#44; it has been applied over some straight bodyworkand#44; so rework is not in this cars immediate future. The blacked-out RS grille includes hidden headlamps that are fully functionaland#44; and additions like the chin and deck lid spoilers give it a period-correct look thats as aggressive as the rumbling small block under the cowl induction hood. All the stainless trim has been polished up as welland#44; including the wheel well trim and window surroundsand#44; and it wears correct rs badges on the front fenders and grille. The vinyl top was replaced during the repaint and looks greatand#44; with the correct grain and no signs of the usual issues underneath. The interior uses Gold Strato buckets with cream stripesand#44; an OEM combination that matches the exterior perfectly and is a definitely upgrade over the original stuff. Restored several years agoand#44; its holding up nicely thanks to quality materials and superior workmanshipand#44; as well as careful use since it was finished. With the complete color changeand#44; all the soft parts are newand#44; including carpetsand#44; door panelsand#44; and headlinerand#44; and its all in excellent condition today showing only minimal signs of us. It also offers a correct Rally Sport steering wheeland#44; and an easy-to-grab shifter for the TH350 3-speed automaticand#44; and a center console thats always a desirable upgrade. Even betterand#44; theres factory-style A/Cand#44; a tilt columnand#44; and power windowsand#44; both somewhat unusual options in an early Camaro. The only significant alteration from stockand#44; besides the colorand#44; is a modern AM/FM/CD head unitand#44; although the original AM radio remains in the dash for a correct look. The trunk is lined with a nice-fitting reproduction mat with no secrets hiding underneath. Power comes from a correctand#44; if not numbers-matching 327 cubic inch small blockand#44; so you can ignore the 350 decal on the chrome air cleaner. The engine bay is cleanand#44; with the engine wearing a correct coat of Chevy Orange paint and its nice to see that they didnt go overboard with aftermarket stuff. The air cleaner housing is right for the cowl induction hoodand#44; theres a 4-barrel carburetor on a factory intakeand#44; and original-style accessories spin up front. Underneath its solid and presentableand#44; with a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission and a 10-bolt out backand#44; and as a warm climate carand#44; the floors are in good order. Cast iron exhaust manifolds dump into a dual exhaust system using Flowmaster mufflers. 15-inch Rally wheels fill the wheel wells with BFGoodrich T/A radials that complete the sporty package. Admit itand#44; this is the cruiser youve always dreamed of owning. Imagine pulling into your favorite car-guy hotspot behind the wheel of this rumbling Camaro; you cant deny that it has a ton of eyeball appeal. Call today! |
