Mustangs are timelessand#44; but some are simply better than others. This 1967 Ford Mustang convertible gets everything rightand#44; from the C-code 289 under the hoodand#44; to factory A/Cand#44; to outstanding originality that is rarely seen on the road these days. Good Mustangs are hard to findand#44; and this one is veryand#44; very good indeed. A survivor is the best way to describe this carand#44; because other than a what appears to be a vintage resprayand#44; this car is shockingly original and well-preserved. The car has always lived in the southand#44; so its spotless throughoutand#44; and it seems that everybody who has owned it has cherished it. Always a hobby car and not a daily driverand#44; it was easy to keep it in outstanding condition and today it shows a soft gloss that looks right on a car from this vintage. The code A Wimbledon White paint is a timeless Mustang colorand#44; and although the door tag says it was Springtime Yellowand#44; its almost impossible to detect a color change at any point in time. Were at a loss to explain thatand#44; because theres just no trace of a repaint or yellow paint anywhere on the carand#44; so perhaps its one of those rare factory errors on the tag. Youll also find shiny chrome bumpers at each end and it sure seems like someone buffed the stainlessand#44; and it looks fantastic against the white paint. Everything on this car has a great vintage look that fits together very well. To give you an idea of how well-kept this wonderful Mustang really isand#44; check out the all original black bucket seat interior. Yesand#44; original. Hard to believeand#44; but like the rest of the carand#44; its led an easy life with people who have loved it. Except when someone was behind the wheeland#44; it wasnt subject to the ravages of the elementsand#44; so the seats show modest wear and no UV damageand#44; the carpets are maybe a little fadedand#44; but definitely not enough to replaceand#44; and the back seat looks like new. The original gauges are a little fadedand#44; perhapsand#44; but youll be pleased to see options like factory A/C and a center console. An AM/FM/cassette radio replaces the original AM radio above the garage storage area in the console. The only significant non-original part is the black convertible topand#44; which is new. The trunk is outfitted with a correct matand#44; full-sized spare with coverand#44; and matching tool bag. The numbers-matching C-code 289 cubic inch V8 remains entirely original and it runs superbly. While it isnt detailed for showand#44; it sure looks well-maintained and clean and almost all the equipment looks like it was installed on the assembly line. Ford Blue on the engine and air cleanerand#44; and correct decals throughout make it look very authenticand#44; and the 200-horsepower 289 is a wonderful travelling companion for a ragtop Mustang. The 3-speed automatic transmission is a nice choice as welland#44; and it includes power steering and power brakesand#44; so its a breeze to handle around town. The undercarriage is completely original and untouchedand#44; but its solid and cleanand#44; and hasnt been upgraded with a loud dual exhaust or oversized wheels; you can even see the original red oxide primer on the floors! A new gas tank hangs out back and it still exhales through a single exhaust pipe that has a pleasing V8 sound. Even the original steel wheels wear the factory-issued hubcaps and a set of 205/75/14 whitewall radials that look right. Beautifully preserved and still a lot of fun to driveand#44; this is a cool Mustang with a great story to tell. Call today! |
