The MGB is a two door sports car manufactured by the British Motor Corporation, later British Leyland, as a four-cylinder, roadster from 1962 until 1980. Replacing the MGA in 1962, production of the MGB and its variants continTued until 1980, achieving sales for the MGB, MGC and MGB GT V8 combined of 523,836 cars. In structure the MGB was an innovative, modern design in 1962, utilizing a monocoque structure instead of the traditional body-on-frame construction used on both the MGA and MG T-types and the MGBs rival, the Triumph. This MGB is considered by collectors to be the very best year. It had the most horse power before US emission laws strangled later cars. The car also has the most attractive chrome bumpers and sporty steel dash with toggle switches. This particular example has been nicely restored and is a super strong driving car. The car has had a Weber side-draft carburetor conversion and coupled with a performance exhaust header giving it added power. The gold Enkei alloy minilite style wheels are truly vintage survivors in excellent condition. The body and paint work on this little MGB is near show quality with straight gaps and shut lines. If you want to enjoy an iconic British sports car, this is the one to have. |
