1967 Porsche 911S 2.0L Coupe Chassis No. 307975S • First Year 911S Model Special Ordered w/ Rare Factory Options Chassis 307975S was completed in April of 1967and#44; equipped with an electric sunroofand#44; rear window wiperand#44; tinted glassand#44; heated rear windowand#44; fog lampsand#44; Blaupunkt Köln radioand#44; passenger headrestand#44; and Dunlop SP Tires. Wearing Hellelfenbein (Light Ivory) over black vinyl upholsteryand#44; this highly optioned 911S was sold through VW/Porsche Salzburg to Bernhard Blank of Zürichand#44; Switzerland. Well known in enthusiast circlesand#44; Bernhard Blank was one of Porsches earliest patrons. In 1947and#44; he loaned Rupprecht von Senger 50and#44;000 Swiss francs to place orders with Ferdinand Porsche for the companys first completed automobiles. In 1948and#44; Blank encouraged Porsche to hire Swiss coachbuilders Ernst and Fritz Beutler to develop their cabriolet model. Later that yearand#44; Blank became the official Swiss distributor for Porsche andand#44; in March 1949and#44; he presented a Gmünd coupe and a Beutler cabriolet at the Geneva Motor Salon. The car would remain in Europe until the mid-1980sand#44; when it was sold to Michael Taradash of Riversideand#44; Connecticutand#44; who commissioned the factory Porsche AG to perform a complete restoration of the 911 between 1984 and 1986and#44; refinishing the car in Irish Green with tan leather interior that has an amazing patina. Mail correspondence between Taradash and the Porsche Repair Department discuss the vehicle on Porsche letterheadand#44; followed by several pages of invoices for the work performed. Mr. Taradash then took delivery of the car at the factoryand#44; before a driving tour of the local region. Astonishinglyand#44; the entire paper trail from insurance coverageand#44; travel to shipping and importation accompanies the 911and#44; including the German tourist plates still mounted on the bumper. In August 1986and#44; the Porsche was shipped from Germany to the USand#44; and in late Decemberand#44; Mr. Taradash sold the car to John Roe of New York City. The 911 was used a weekend runabout to the Hamptons until 1989 when the Roes purchased a new car and the Porsche was garaged in the Hamptons and retired from road use in the early 1990s. Recently uncovered after two decades of static storageand#44; a meticulous detailing of the car has revealed beautifully mellowed cosmetics applied by Porsche to pair well to freshened original mechanical components and powertrain. A freshly completed major service included the removaland#44; disassemblyand#44; rebuild and reseal of the numbers-matching engine. It has received all new bearingsand#44; sealsand#44; gasketsand#44; studsand#44; nutsand#44; springsand#44; tensionersand#44; guidesand#44; resurfacing and honing of the heads and cylindersand#44; new oils lines and rubbersand#44; rebuilding of the intakeand#44; charging and ignition systemsand#44; cosmetic renewal of the finishesand#44; new oil tankand#44; new exhaust systemand#44; a new clutchand#44; flywheel and bearings. The entire braking system was also addressed with a complete rebuild of the S exceedingly rare calipersand#44; new discs and lines. Emergency brake and shifter linkage components renewed as well. Proper Michelin XZX tires were then mated to the cars 67S-only lightweight Fuchs to complete the package. |
