This 1968 Ford F100 Ranger pickup is one of those unusual trucks that just seem to pop up now and then. No truck looked this good or ran this well back in 1968and#44; thanks to a rebuilt 360 cubic inch V8 and a paint job that looks clean and bright. If you need a full-size pickup with some style or a fun cruiser that can still earn its keepand#44; this awesome Ford can still work and play hard. In 1968and#44; trucks werent fashion statementsand#44; they were tools. As a resultand#44; very few survived in great condition and even fewer were outfitted as nicely as this F-100. Someone with excellent taste obviously filled out the order formand#44; as the two-tone white and yellow exterior with yellow and black interior are the trucks original colorsand#44; and throughout the past 45 or so yearsand#44; it was extremely well maintained. The paint isnt perfectand#44; but its really nice for a truckand#44; and it means that you wont think twice about running out to the garden center for some supplies and hauling them home. On the other handand#44; it also looks good enough to get appreciative glances out on the road and at the local cruise nightand#44; so get ready for a lot of thumbs up gestures on the road. Theres lots of bright trimand#44; indicative of the top-of-the-line modeland#44; with bright stainless rub stripesand#44; chrome bumpersand#44; and big FORD block letters on the tailgate. The bed is almost too pretty to be usedand#44; but then againand#44; these were built to haul anything and everythingand#44; so have at it! As I mentionedand#44; the black and yellow interior is pretty much as the factory intended. With newer soft partsand#44; it looks fantastic and the wide bench seat offers a commanding view of the road from behind the wheel. That wheel is a slender 3-spoke unit that looks like it was borrowed from one of Fords high-end passenger carsand#44; and the instrument panel behind it is a clever arrangement of gauges inside an oval housing. The original AM radio is goneand#44; replaced somewhere along the line with a digital AM/FM/CD/iPod head unit powering speakers mounted in the doors. Tough rubber mats protect the floor and help control noise and heatand#44; and you dont have to worry if you take this truck to the job site once in a whileand#44; because thats what it was designed to do. Neverthelessand#44; this is a nice place to spend some time. The 360 cubic inch V8 was rebuilt in 2006 and makes this truck a lot of fun to drive. Rumbling with horsepowerand#44; it offers the kind of grunt that makes old pickups so much funand#44; kind of like a Mustang with a bed. Thanks to an Edelbrock intake and carburetorand#44; it definitely makes muscle-car-like levels of horsepowerand#44; and with lots of fresh maintenance itemsand#44; its a fantastic runner. Ford Blue paint looks great in the all-black engine bayand#44; and its been dressed with a few chrome bits and dress-up emblems to add some attitude. Power steering and brakesand#44; new motor mountsand#44; a fresh gas tank and fuel pumpand#44; and a new Optmia battery mean its ready to go right now. The chassis is fairly clean and tidyand#44; with the Twin I-Beam front suspension up front and a 9-inch hanging on leaf springs out back and a 3-speed manual transmission in the middle. Theres also a new dual exhaust system with mellow-sounding mufflersand#44; and flashy chrome wheels have been fitted with 225/75/15 radials. Usually big horsepowerand#44; rear wheel driveand#44; and a sparkling paint job will cost you extraand#44; but with this rugged and attractive Fordand#44; it comes at a very reasonable price.
