This pretty 1968 Ford F-100 pickup is what you get when you dream of ordering one new from the factory but show up forty-five years too late. Aside from the wheels its completely stockand#44; but the restoration created one mans vision of the ultimate late-60s pickup that he always dreamed of owning. With restoration costs all out of proportion to the list priceand#44; this is quite honestly one of the best weve ever seen. Repainted in 2000and#44; this black pickup remains quite impressive even up close. Black is the trucks original colorand#44; and there arent many better choices on a truck from the late 60s. It was extremely well doneand#44; because even after 16 years it still shines up beautifully and doesnt show any signs of having been bent or rusty. Note how the reflections of our floor are crisp and clear in the paintand#44; how well the doors fitand#44; and the very crisp look overall. Sureand#44; there are a few minor signs of use and ageand#44; but those are completely forgivable simply because the sucker looks awesome overall. The grille is straight and clean and the limited chrome and trim only emphasizes the blacks depth and gloss. Of courseand#44; chrome bumpers look great and the bed is protected with a spray-in bedliner so itll handle anything youre brave enough to throw in there. Since he was aiming highand#44; the guy who restored this truck installed a tasteful black interior to complement the black bodyworkand#44; a combination that always works. A fresh seat cover in the original style has cloth inserts for a little extra comfortand#44; while the original black carpets remain in great shape. The door panels are nicely upholsteredand#44; not painted steeland#44; which was standard equipment on all pickups back in the dayand#44; and this F-100 offers a full complement of fully functional gauges in the unique oval-shaped instrument panel. The steering wheel with chrome horn ring looks like it belongs in a more upscale vehicle but offers plenty of leverage for those poor souls who werent smart enough to order power steering (fortunatelyand#44; this truck has it). The original AM/FM radio remains in the dash and it still works properly and theres a sliding rear window that makes for pleasing ventilation at any speed. If you want torque in your pickupand#44; the 390 cubic inch V8 in this one is happy to oblige. With about 10and#44;500 miles on the rebuildand#44; it cackles like it belongs in a Mustang and is dressed like it should beand#44; tooand#44; with finned valve covers and a matching chrome air cleaner. Theres an upgraded cam insideand#44; an Edelbrock intake with a Holley carburetor on topand#44; as well as a set of long-tube headers. Its a neat fit in the F-100s engine bay and it definitely has a Ford performance look that feels right. Ford Blue engine enamel brightens things up and there are new tune-up parts for the Mallory ignition system. The 3-speed on the column transmission was rebuilt at the same time as the engine and according to the door tagand#44; there are 3.25 gears out back. The frame and running gear are in good original condition and theres a fresh Flowmaster dual exhaust system that sounds great. Shiny chrome mags strike the right tone and carry 275/60/15 BFGoodrich radials. This ultra-clean Ford is so well done that youd think it should cost thousands more than it does. Insteadand#44; you can own one of the finest late-60s pickups weve ever seen for a fraction of the restoration cost. Call today! |
