1968 Mercedes Benz 200D Diesel
MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to present this documented 1968 Mercedes-Benz 200D that for all practical purposes was a one owner car. The original owner is the absolute epitome of a true Southern Bell. This southern lady purchased the car new from Snyders Auto Sales, in Greenville, South Carolina with only 800 miles on the clock! She lovingly owned the car for 12 years, then one day, reluctantly sold it to a friend, where it stayed with them for 10 years. After suffering a ten year case of sellerandrsquo;s remorse, she bought the car back from her friend. The car remained with her for the next 25 years. The bright Signal red finish of this 1 of 575andPrime;fintail Benz defies its age and reflects the loving care it has received since new. TheW110was Mercedes-Benz andlsquo;s line of midsize automobilesin the mid-1960s. One of Mercedesandrsquo; Fintail series. This second series of 4-cylinder cars were produced between 1965-1968. The OM621 diesel engine in the 200D was essentially identical to that of the 190Dc, but was improved by using a five main bearing crankshaft instead of the original three. Visually, the second series models had the front indicators relocated from the top of the front fenders to below the headlights. At the rear, the tail lights were enlarged and squared off and the chrome trim was revised (including the removal of the chrome trim from the trailing edge of the tailfins). All models now featured air outlets with chrome trim on the C-pillars. Inside, there were very few changes except all models now featured reclining front seats. Re-finished in a beautiful Signal Red, Signal Red Mercedes were extremely rare in Europe and even more so in the United States! This paint job shows well with only minor imperfections visible upon close inspection. Front and rear bumpers have an excellent fit and finish that show well. The trim pieces are all present and have a bright but a normal wear finish patina to them. The weather-stripping surround the doors and glass are good condition but showing a little sign of drying with minimal tearing and shrinkage. The U.S. spec Headlights and taillights are in very good condition with no hazing and compliment the rest of the exterior. The 13 inch original wheels are in very good condition showing little or no marring and curb rash. Inside, the black MB-Tex seats all look good with only a few minor tears major and wear visible. good tan molded mats throughout the interior. The black door panels and dashboard are matched with each other and are a nice contrast to exterior of the car. The headliner mirrors the floor of the cabin and completes the theme.The original equipment leather wrapped steering wheel is in very good condition with only minor cracks. The fuel gauge and horn are inoperable. The AM/FM Sanyo tape player functions as designed Included with this car is the original South Carolina Mercedes-Benz are wiring diagrams, parts catalogs owners manual, stamped maintenance booklet and even two (!) Mercedes data build cards, and extra keys (including the keys to raise the antenna)! This nicely represented Mercedes comes equipped with a 2.0L (OM621) Inline 4 cylinder diesel, engine, 4 speed manual transmission, factory tool set, rear wheel drive and power brakes. The 13 inch original equipment steel wheels have the red exterior matching full hub caps are wrapped in performance radials.
