Chevrolets Chevelle was right in the thick of things during the musclecar era. After having been introduced in 1964 as a midsize Chevrolet, it quickly gained a reputation for fearsome performance via a variety of large engines. By the time 1969 rolled around, Chevy had it nailed down. The Chevelle was legend among car buyers. The legend includes the Chevrolet Chevelle SS396. The SS396 was an automatic performance designation and had the brawn to back it up. A big-block V8 could roast the tires and the competition equally as well.
The SS396 we show you today is a clean, solid, Southern car with all the right goodies. It sports a 1972-vintage 402 cubic inch V8 engine mated to a 4-speed manual transmission. The 402 is equipped with a hotter-than-normal camshaft, along with an air- gap style intake manifold and headers. When its started, this beast rumbles in a way that leaves no doubt its awake.
This Chevelle also is equipped with an upgraded factory AC system to keep you cool and comfy, an ultra-rare factory AM/FM stereo, full factory instrumentation, a center console and bucket seats, Cragar SS wheels, and power disc brakes!
The body is solid and straight. All the body panels fit very well although the car was originally red, it has been refinished in beautiful, slick, Tuxedo Black.
This Chevelle SS396 is ready to rumble and it shows. Turn-key and show ready!
