The Ford Mustang Boss 302 is an icon among iconsand#44; a car from the pinnacle of the muscle car era that does more with less and as a result has become a blue-chip collectable. And for many of usand#44; theres one in the past that got awayand#44; and now with prices on these cars skyrocketingand#44; we thought wed never get to own one of these awesome cars. Welland#44; this 1969 Boss 302 tribute offers a more affordable way to own a legendand#44; one with a few smart upgrades that youd never find in an original Bossand#44; and a high-dollar rotisserie restoration to bootand#44; making this car the best of both worlds. Nowand#44; were not going to tell you that this is a real carand#44; because youve already figured that out by the price. Its a very fresh restoration thats built for showing and drivingand#44; and if youve experienced a Boss 302 alreadyand#44; then you know that driving is what they do best. Grabber Orange isnt this cars original colorand#44; but its the right color on a Bossand#44; so thats what went on when the car was refinished. In factand#44; the paint is only six months old and has about 14 miles on itand#44; so its incredibly fresh and bright and done to a very high standardand#44; completed by one of the most respectable shops in Atlanta. The Boss graphics are expertly applied and the body doesnt show any critical issues that would suggest a checkered past and the blacked out hood and deck lid are painted satin black for effect. Factory rear window louversand#44; a factory rear spoilerand#44; and the blacked-out tail panel all work well with the bright orange paint and gorgeous chrome bumpers to give this Boss just the right look. The black interior is especially niceand#44; with new seat covers on the original bucketsand#44; correct door panelsand#44; and the critical Hurst shifter. The seats look upscale in the Mustangs all-black interiorand#44; and you can see why this was such a great place to do the serious business of driving fast. Factory gauges are originaland#44; but they work just fine and there are new bulbs insideand#44; so they light up brightly at night. The original AM radio is goneand#44; replaced by an AM/FM/iPod stereo that fits like it was born there. The shifter is a proper Hurst unitand#44; complete with cue ball knoband#44; but youll note that it now manages five gearsand#44; not fourand#44; making this Boss a weapon on the street yet comfortable on the highway. The back seat looks almost newand#44; and the neatly finished trunk offers a correct plaid mat that fits rather well. The 302 cubic inch V8 that is the heart of the Boss looks awesome in the engine bay and even though its not the real thingand#44; it sure looks convincing. Its correctly dressed in Ford Blue with a big air cleaner and proper reproduction decalsand#44; all of which make the 1969s unique. Upgrades include an Edelbrock intake manifold and Holley 4-barrel carburetorand#44; and theres a Comp Cams bumpstick inside that gives it that famous cackling boss idle. It starts easily and runs greatand#44; pulling the car around with genuine authority. The 5-speed transmission doesnt mind the extra power running through it and with a towering overdrive gearand#44; highway cruising is effortless. Magnaflow supplied the exhaustand#44; so you know it sounds awesomeand#44; and one glance underneath and youll see that this really is a clean carand#44; with a brand-newand#44; upgraded suspension. Magnum 500 wheels are the best choice on any late-60s Mustangand#44; with this one wearing fresh BFG radials. If youre going to quibble over correctnessand#44; this isnt your car. But if youve dreamed of owning one of theseand#44; this is a great opportunity to do so at a relatively affordable price And they dont get much nicer than this beauty. Call today! |
