1969 Mercury Montego MX convertible with its original and low mileage 351 Windsor V8 engine and automatic transmission. Only 5000 Montego MX convertibles were made in 1968 and 1969, and very few exist today. So, you will rarely see one, either on the road or for sale. The paint is in very nice condition and is the correct dark red Mercury color that was originally used for this car. The white soft top is also in very nice shape. The car shows under 76,000 miles on the odometer, and, while the mileage is undocumented, I have no doubt that the mileage is original, based on the lack of wear on interior surfaces and the condition of the engine. All of the interior is original and in excellent condition, except that I had the front bench seat professionally reupholstered. The engine is very powerful and uses no oil. It has never been rebuilt. I did a compression check on the engine, and here are the numbers: Cylinder No. Compression 1 140 2 135 3 135 4 144 5 135 6 136 7 145 8 135 The timing chain cover gasket does need to be replaced at some point as a tiny bit of coolant is getting past it. The car runs, drives and handles beautifully. It has electronic ignition. The car recently had installed a new water pump, front brakes, new shocks, new tires and had a tune-up. Also, a new, correct liner has been installed in the trunk. The car comes with stock wheels and original stock wheel covers that are in perfect condition.
