When the radically redesigned sixth-generation Cadillac Eldorado was released in 1967, it was such a huge success that sales numbers that model that year were three times higher than the previous Eldorado sales record, with 17,930 rolling off the assembly line in 1967, propelling Cadillac to its best year ever. Redesigned to capitalize on the new era of the personal luxury car market, the new Eldorado was promoted as the worldandrsquo;s finest personal car and featured sleek new styling with a focus on performance, luxury, and personal comfort that saw sales soar throughout the era. Minor changes followed throughout the late sixties and disc brakes became standard in 1968, which saw another sales record broken with 24,528 Eldoradoandrsquo;s produced and accounted for nearly 11 percent of Cadillacandrsquo;s total production. Although styling was carried over from the previous yearandrsquo;s model, in 1970 the Eldorado received a new 8.2L engine, which equated to a whopping 500 cubic inches. Producing 400 horsepower and 550 ft. lbs. of torque the new 500ci engine was exclusive to the Eldorado and was the largest production V8 ever offered, and coupled with its impressive handling and ride, the newest Eldorado was certainly something to behold. This 1970 Eldorado features Cadillacandrsquo;s behemoth 500ci engine coupled to a Turbo-Hydramatic 425 3-speed transmission, and is based on the Oldsmobile Toronado platform, making it front wheel drive. The exterior of the Eldorado is Corinthian Blue Metallic with an optional white vinyl roof and the interior is optional blue leather, and appears to be the original upholstery, showing little wear for its age. Other options include automatic climate control, cruise control, door edge guards, Soft-Ray glass, floor mats, AM/FM signal seeking radio with stereo, power seats with six-way front seat, shoulder belts, tilt and telescoping steering wheel, remote control trunk lock, and Cadillacandrsquo;s Twilight Sentinel automatic headlight system. Standard features include power windows, power locks, variable-ratio power steering, power disc brakes, and Automatic Level Control.
