The Porsche 914 or VW Porsche 914 was a mid-engined, targa topped 2 seat roadster designed, manufactured and marketed collaboratively by Volkswagen and Porsche from 1969 to 1976. By the late 1960s, Porsche were in need of new models; Porsche was looking for a replacement for their entry level 912, and Volkswagen wanted a new range-topping sports coupe to replace the Karmann Ghia. At the time, the majority of Volkswagens developmental work was handled by Porsche, part of a setup that dated back to Porsches founding, Volkswagen needed to contract out one last project to Porsche to fulfill the contract, and decided to make this that project. Ferdinand Pi?ch, who was in charge of research and development at Porsche, was put in charge of the 914 project. This great looking 914 with its thin bumpers is a first year model for the US market. It was refinished in the traditional Porsche silver from original red. It also sports a rebuilt 2.0 liter motor and transaxle with only 6k miles of use. The motor is fitted with twin Weber carbs and Kandamp;N air filters. Up front is a custom made air dam with fitted oil cooler and brake air ducts. The factory style Bosch fog lamps with covers gives the car a great rally look. Other performance upgrades include stainless steel brake lines, Boge shocks, and turbo tie rod ends. A brand new set of Pirrelli P4 radials has just been installed. The original interior is in excellent condition with no cracks or tears. The optional factory console has additional gauges. This Porsche still has original floor pans.
