Details: | 1971 Chevrolet Camaro Z28/ RS Tuxedo Black Documented- I have the window sticker, shipper, and protecto-plate. Very unique color combination of Tuxedo with Sandalwood interior. The 701/2 cars are a tad more collectable, but you couldnt order one in black (1971 first year for that). This is an original M22 car- one of roughly 1,500 Z/RSs with special heavy duty transmission and 3.73posi. This is not a frame-off reconstruction- its a very nice, straight, rust free, driver/ survivor. All sheet metal is original aside from the trunk pan (southern cars still rusted there due to leaky seals). She was painted in 2006 and still looks great. I had the vinyl top installed when I bought it- she was smooth and straight no rust or filler whatsoever. The underbody is cleaned/detailed with no new coatings of any kind. What you see is what you get! The engine is not numbers matching but the power train is all period correct. Transmission recently rebuilt; it was stuffed with wide ratio crusher gears to make her a better in-town cruiser. The motor was installed before prior owner, so not much documentation there other than the heads do appear original from DZ/ LT1 (castings 3927186). Block cast correct for period, but appears to be warranty replacement. Very strong motor with a bit too much cam. I tried to have the idle leaned down, but that was a mistake. She needs tuned like she was when I originally purchased. There arent a lot of these cars- especially Z28/RSs- with their birth certificates, and Its an easy one to validate. The paperwork agrees perfectly with the cowl tag as well as the door jamb sticker. This is a Rally Sport with documentation. |
