Bright red paintand#44; a 4-speed gearboxand#44; and a top that goes down make this 1971 Chevrolet Corvette convertible a slam-dunkand#44; never mind the affordable price tag! Perfect for cruisingand#44; it runs welland#44; looks greatand#44; and theres just something special about sliding behind the wheel of your own Corvette; you knowand#44; the one youve wanted since you were a kid. Welland#44; this is it. The paint was done a few years agoand#44; and it does a pretty good impersonation of the original Mille Miglia Redand#44; giving this Stingray a high-octane look that works especially well with the swoopy bodywork. Its not perfectand#44; but it has a great overall look that shines up well on a Saturday afternoon and presents no worries when youre out on the road or parked on the street nearest your favorite sidewalk café. The respray was incredibly thoroughand#44; as theres no trace of the original colorand#44; and while they were at itand#44; they made sure that the fiberglass was straightand#44; so the car looks quite nice today. Sureand#44; there are a few chips here and thereand#44; but in the Corvette worldand#44; a perfect Corvette just isnt as much fun. And if youre a fan of the early chrome bumper carsand#44; this is the end of the line. Fortunatelyand#44; all the brightwork is in very good shapeand#44; the badges and emblems are crispand#44; and the lenses are excellent. The original interior is long goneand#44; replaced by a set of correct black seat covers with a great look. Things like the carpetsand#44; door panelsand#44; and even the center console were all replacedand#44; probably when it was repaintedand#44; and it all has a comfortableand#44; inviting look that only time can provide. That three-spoke steering wheel is a familiar Chevrolet performance piece that certainly looks right in the vintage Corvetteand#44; and the gauges offer clear lenses and bright markings that are easy to read at a glance. At your right hand is the 4-speed shifterand#44; along with controls for the Kenwood AM/FM/cassette stereoand#44; which has a big pair of speakers tucked into the rear cargo bay below the convertible top. And speaking of the black convertible topand#44; its in excellent condition with a crystal clear rear window for those surprise rain showers. This is the original numbers-matching 350 cubic inch V8and#44; which in 1971 was rated at a rather stout 270 horsepower. There are a few upgradesand#44; including an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifoldand#44; Holley carburetorand#44; and an upgraded distributorand#44; but they made a good effort to get it to look correctand#44; with Chevy Orange paint and finned Corvette-logo valve covers. Long-tube headers were tucked in underneathand#44; and they dump into a rumbling stock-style dual exhaust system with just the right sound. Its quite clean underneathand#44; tooand#44; with no rust or stress cracksand#44; and theres no undercoating to hide behind. Its clean! There are relatively recent shocks all aroundand#44; fat sway bars to improve handlingand#44; and it sits on classic Rally wheels with spinners and relatively recent 235/60/15 BFGoodrich T/A radials. Fun and affordableand#44; and with a great pedigreeand#44; this is the Corvette convertible youve been waiting for. Call today! |
