The 70s were a wackyand#44; wonderful time for high-performance carsand#44; and nobody did high-impact muscle better than Chrysler. So if its attention youre cravingand#44; check out this 1971 Plymouth Road Runner tributeand#44; complete with Plum Crazy paintand#44; a Go-Wingand#44; and a ton of horsepower inside. The fuselage styling has aged pretty welland#44; still looking futuristic and rounded with aggressively flared fenders. Of courseand#44; painting anything Plum Crazy purple is simply asking for attentionand#44; but its fortunate that this car looks as good as it does if all those folks are going to be staring at it. It looks to have led a pretty easy life in a warm climate and the build quality is better than youd expect from Mopar in the 70s. As a resultand#44; the flanks are smoothand#44; the doors fit welland#44; and there are no major issues in the usual spots. The paint is a few years and still looks pretty good with only a few signs of use and has a shine that was impossible 40 years ago. Plusand#44; now that its rendered in modern materialsand#44; a professional buff should really wake it up. The Air Grabber hood is dressed up with decals advertising the 383 insideand#44; theres a black strobe stripe kit thats a big part of the lookand#44; and that satin black wing out back ties it all together. Both the front and rear bumpers seem to echo each other in their shapeand#44; and with bright chrome and nicely polished stainless trimand#44; the car has a crisply detailed look. Insideand#44; the interior got a mild makeover thats both period-perfect and ready to cater to serious drivers. Buckets and a console make it a desirable carand#44; and the horizontal pleats work well with the 70s theme. Heckand#44; the cars logo is a cartoon birdand#44; a bit of fun with the disco era is definitely welcome! An original wheel frames factory gaugesand#44; and the dash itselfand#44; along with the consoleand#44; has been dressed up with some woodgrained appliques that are at least moderately convincing. This one also packs power steering and brakesand#44; as well as a Sony AM/FM/CD/iPod/satellite/Bluetooth head unit in the glove boxand#44; so cruising is a genuine pleasure. The back seat with its highly sculpted seating surfaces looks like the best seat in the house and theres a taut headliner overhead to complete the OEM look. Revised styling also included a largeand#44; usable trunkand#44; which carries a a correct mat that fits beautifully. The 383 cubic inch V8 engine is beautifully detailedand#44; and somehow that contrast between Plum Crazy purple paint and the Hemi Orange engine always looks incredible. This was originally a humble G-code 318 carand#44; but the 383 fits just as well and looks right. They paid attention to the details when it went togetherand#44; and its been dressed up with Mopar Performance finned valve covers and matching air cleaner. Functional enhancements include an Edelbrock intake manifoldand#44; a 4-barrel carburetorand#44; and a big aluminum radiator up front. The 727 TorqueFlite 3-speed automatic is bulletproof and in the Road Runnerand#44; offers quick reflexes and relaxed cruisingand#44; so you can drive it every day without a penalty. Its not detailed for showand#44; but the underside is quite clean and rust-freeand#44; and theres a recent Flowmaster exhaust system that sounds strong without being too loud. Shiny Rallye wheels wear 225/70/15 front and wide 255/60/15 rear BFGoodrich T/A radialsand#44; which fill those wheel wells perfectly. Uniqueand#44; fastand#44; and funand#44; with just the right 70s outrageousnessand#44; this purple Plymouth delivers in a big way. Call today! |
