Station wagons are a dying breed in todays showrooms, but perhaps if they were building wagons as cool as this 1972 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser that would not be the case. Many of us grew up looking out the sky panels of a wagon like this, and few have survived in this condition, so if youre looking to relive some memories and make some new ones, this is an awesome choice. It is not what you may consider a muscle car but it does make a great cruiser and if you can find one still open it is great for the drive-in movie. The 72 Olds cruises the highways with ease. The Nordic blue metallic paint is accented with the wood trim, which really is the only way you want your vintage wagon. The paint is in spectacular condition. This 72 came from a private collection and it shows. There has been one owner for the past 28 years and we understand that this was a one family owned car. The owner took meticulous care and maintenance, and you are getting a car in top condition. It has had one repaint in the past and all the interior of the car is original. This is a big car, make no mistake, but the proportions are excellent and the rear doors visually tie this car to the rest of the Cutlass line-up and provides a great place for a contrasting pinstripe to really dress things up. The chrome shines as bright as the rest of the paint work on the car, which all is in excellent shape, which makes this wagon very impressive. The blue vinyl interior is solid, clean, and spacious, and ready for the next family trip. The vinyl seats show very little wear, and obviously has led a good life. There are some very minor signs of use, but no split seams or tears in the upholstery, and of the interior is clean and ready for travel. The blue carpet throughout the interior, shows no fading or heavy wear, mostly because there are mats keeping it protected. The driver gets the original Olds steering wheel and the original instrument panel that has the 3 round pods for all the basic information; 1 - fuel, temp, oil, brake and generator, 2- speed, odometer and shifting, 3 - is just to balance out the visual effect of the dash. There is also a working AM/FM radio and you just cant beat the view from those awesome roof-mounted windows. Theres also an impressive amount of space in back. Oldsmobile used a solid 350ci 4BBL V8 matched with the THM 400 series automatic which makes this wagon surprisingly quick around town and a great high-speed cruiser on the highway. Its nicely detailed with Oldsmobile Gold paint on the valve covers and the traditional black air cleaner with Oldsmobile Rocket 350 on the decal. It starts easily and idles smoothly. It is still original underneath, so dont expect shiny and perfect, but there is no evidence that this car spent any time in winter weather and it looks quite solid indeed. Power steering, power front disc/drum rear brakes, and air conditioning make it an effortless car to drive. If you like wagons, youre going to love this Olds. This is an awesome family car!
