While Corvettes have a reputation for being brutal performance carsand#44; theres no reason they cant also be pretty. This 1973 Corvette is a very affordable matching-numbers exampleand#44; freshly painted in Silver Metallic and ready to enjoy immediately. That handsome finish is this cars original colorand#44; masterfully re-created in modern urethane paint for an vastly improved shine. This Vette has clearly led an easy lifeand#44; as the fiberglass is in great shape all around. Surely the guys who did the paint knew a thing or two about putting it on rightand#44; because the doors fit welland#44; the headlights are flush with the bodyworkand#44; and the usual stress cracks are nowhere to be found. As you surely know by nowand#44; 1973 was the last year for chrome bumpers on the C3 body styleand#44; and with this bright sliver paintand#44; they give the car a very sophisticated look that might be just as at home on the shores of Monaco as the streets of Detroit. Its not perfectand#44; but at this priceand#44; youre getting a car that presents extremely well and nobody will know how affordable it really is. In additionand#44; the trim is quite niceand#44; with proper badges frontand#44; sideand#44; and rear. From any angleand#44; its impossible to argue that this isnt a great-looking car. This one also received the code 400 black vinyl bucket seat interior which was standard equipment in the 1973 Corvette. The seats may very well be originaland#44; which tells us a great deal about how well-maintained this car has been. Door panels are excellent and the carpets are showing some wearand#44; but overall the interior has a very consistent look that makes you want to climb in and hit the road with no particular destination in mind. The original instruments look great with bright markings and clear lensesand#44; and youll be pleased to note that this car is fitted with options like cold A/Cand#44; a tilt/telescope wheeland#44; and an AM/FM radioand#44; although the latter is inoperable and is in need of an upgrade. The console and shifter look greatand#44; the steering wheel isnt cracked or fadedand#44; and when you lift off the T-topsand#44; its very nearly as breezy as a convertible on the open road. The engine is this cars original L48 350 cubic inch V8and#44; which was rated at 190 horsepower in 1973. The downgrade in horsepower due to lowered compression ratiosand#44; milder camsand#44; andand#44; of courseand#44; the whole net versus gross horsepower rating systemand#44; doesnt really change the personality of the Corvette itself. Of courseand#44; you already knew thatand#44; and now youre just checking out the details in the engine bay such as the Chevy Orange paint on the blockand#44; cowl induction cleanerand#44; correct chrome ignition shieldand#44; and OEM-style componentry throughout. This car also carries power steering and power brakesand#44; and even small block Corvettes received a heavy-duty TH400 3-speed automatic transmissionand#44; which is easily up to the rigors of high-performance motoring. The chassis is highly originaland#44; and while it isnt shiny and perfectand#44; it shows signs of proper maintenanceand#44; a newer exhaust systemand#44; and exactly zero rust. Correct Rally wheels wear 225/70/15 BFGoodrich white-letter radials. Its rare to be able to call a Corvette prettyand#44; but this one is exactly that.
