1973 Triumph TR6 for sale $44,500

This beautiful award winning Triumph was brought to North America originally by a Canadian serviceman who had been assigned to England. He purchased this car new and upon completion of his tour of duty in England, brought the car back with him to Canada. It went through several owners before becoming mine. One of the owners, did a complete body off redo, even though it did not need much redoing, but he wanted to rust proof the undercarraige and make some minor improvements. He is a professional British car restorer. Consequently, there is no rust anywhere that I can find, and there has never been any accidents. There is a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust, Certified Copy of a Factory Record that comes with it, that shows that the car was originally delivered with a matching hard top in Pimento Red. There is a complete soft top set that also comes with it, thathas its own custom made storage bag.Michelin Redline tires (5), with new tubes are on the car now, not the mags shown in some of the photos, and a full set (5) of wheels that are Dunlop Racing reproduction wheels with Pirelli P4000 tires mounted, are available to the buyer of this car, very reasonably.

Several years ago the car was entered in a judged Triumphshow in Canada and took first place. Last year it also took first place in the Albuquerque, NMBritish car clubs show, in the judged category against all marks. The paint looks good, but was resprayed some years ago when the body-off restoration was accomplished. There are a few minor little paint chips. The interior is excellent. Rechroming on some of the bumpers could brighten up the outside a bit. The car came with a factory radio antenna, but a radio has ever been installed.

All of the petrol injection system has been replaced. It has new rebuilt injectors and fuel rails, and the hardware securing such. The fuel metering and fuel distributor has been recently rebuilt by Malcolm Jones in England, who is very expert on these systems. The throttle bodies have been cleaned and reset and a new Malcolm Jones accelerator linkage systemhas been installed. The Lucas fuel pump, pressure regulator and filtering system have been replaced with aBosch system. New seals that keep the fuel out of the oil, and oil out of the fuel have been replaced as has the connector between the fuel metering system and the fuel distributor. A Pertronix ignition system is also in place and the power to the ignition coil is on its own switch and relay.

The cam shaft is a new Kent cam that provides the horsepower that the European version enjoyed, which is considerably more than the Triumphs had that were manufactured for the U.S. market. This car is very quick. The exhaust system was changed to a dual exhaust some years ago, and provides a great sound, but probably does not do much for the performance. The rear shocks are now telescoping tube types.The interior of the boot has received a lovely set of upholstering. The overdrive is very functional and useful on highway trips.

There are many new spareparts that pertain to the fuel injection system that will come with the car, as well as the original Lucas fuel pump. Also included is a three ring binder that contains the Heritage certificate, the original owners manual, as well as a new Triumph TR6 PI Handbook, the original Sales and Service books, the original owners membership cards in the RAC, a wiring diagram, and various original advertising materials for Trimph TR6s.

I have enjoyed owning this Triumph and will be very sorry to see it go. Age and declining health have dictated the need to downsize, so Olive has to go. She is called Olive since a dry martini contains one with a pimento center. I will be keeping my other TR6, Earl.
