This 1974 MGB is a nicely restored version of the affordable/fun/workable/iconic British roadster. The MGB is the kind of car for people who enjoy the trip. Its hard not to be attracted to this roadster right from the first impression. Sureand#44; that yellow is so bold it looks like its borrowed from the Ferrari palletand#44; but this cars appeal goes much deeper. It was treated to a full restoration in 2013. So this sunshine roadster has a great sunny day personality that radiates through the modern clearcoat. The restoration is also why the panel gap is uniformand#44; the trim is completeand#44; and if you ever do need more protectionand#44; the tan folding roof has a precision fit. Plusand#44; the metal bumpers have a mirror finishand#44; and thats especially important on this car. By the end of 1974 the MGB traded in its chrome grille and chrome bumpers for black plastic unitsand#44; and forever giving chrome bumper cars the upper hand in style and prestige. Thats why earlier MGBs like this one will often cost you a bit moreand#44; but they also hold the extra value. But more than just retaining a higher stature in the marketand#44; you can see this one is a cut-above right down to the iconic styled steel wheels that have been painted to match the car. This is not the kind of cushy interior that comes from a turnpike cruiserand#44; but if youve read this farand#44; you already knew that. Insteadand#44; the entire inside envelops the driver like a second skin. The space between the three-spoke wheel and the stick shift (both with factory optional wood accents) is exceptionally closeand#44; for comfortable and quick performance. Plusand#44; you notice nice custom touches like the MG logo in the middle of the wheel has been painted to match the exterior. The driver gets a full set of Smiths gauges with a large speedometer and tachometerand#44; as well as dials for other vitals such as oiland#44; fueland#44; and water. The tan vinyl bucket seats are pristineand#44; which is another testament to the restoration. While the entire interior feels exceptionally originaland#44; there is one nice modern touch. The stereo is an AM/FM/cassette with digital tuner so its adaptable to utilize modern music players for your sunny day soundtrack. Just one look at the picturesand#44; and its obvious that the restoration included the engine bay. More than just show-worthy paintand#44; this has all the hallmarks of confidence – tidy wiresand#44; good hosesand#44; and an overall cleanliness that tell you the fluids stay internal. And worry-free is exactly what you like to see in an MGB because these motors are a stout product that are rev-happy and love to be driving to the fullest. Making sure that this engine stays in its sweet spot is the control of the four-speed manual transmission. Even those who have driven an MGB before will be amazed at how well this one handles on the road. The restoration included all-new front end components right down to the polyurethane bushings and front disc brakes. That gives this one an extra crisp feeling as you power through your favorite backroad. Its amazing that a roadster with so much invested in it can still be this affordable. You know how desirable this example isand#44; and we bet youre not the only one looking for a sunny day cruiserand#44; so hurry up and call today! |
