Details: The 1974 to 1977 two-point-seven-liter 911s are now the closest link to the vaunted longhood models, and thus are held in high esteem.

Of those, one particular car stands out: the 1975 Silver Anniversary 911S, commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Porsche factory.

Manufactured in August of 1974, VIN *9115200216*, one of just 510 such Coupes made for the U.S. market, is a documented, 2-owner California car. It has been in the care of its second owner for over 25 years.

No less than 107 receipts, neatly organized within clear sheet protectors in a large, three-ring binder, totalling $57,575.17, indicate the high level of maintenance this Porsche has always enjoyed. Engine and transmission were rebuilt and updated, eliminating the well-known 2.7-liter issues once and for all. Regular service was performed for over 20 years by Scotts Independent Porsche in Anaheim, CA.

Starting our inspection with the trunk, we notice a strut bar, a CD-changer, and an amplifier as the only non stock items. They all could easily be removed for a 100% factory look, if so desired.
Most importantly, the front suspension pan section appears perfectly accident and rust free.

Undercarriage looks dry and clean, befitting a life-long California Porsche. There are no unsightly oil leaks to report.

All 25th Anniversary models were painted Diamond Silver Metallic from the factory. 1975 was the last year of the single, small, chrome exterior mirror. Check out he beautiful, staggered FUCHS light alloy wheels.

This example sports excellent coachwork with perfect gaps all around. Note the small Carrera flares to the rear fenders. Although the paint might be best described as a B-grade driver finish with some inpainting, there are no dings, dents, or bubbles of any significance.

Inside, the good news continue, with a nice headliner and the factory installed -- if slightly puffy -- sun visors. Dome lights are in working condition.

Apart from a radio update, the cockpit looks stock, including the 380mm sport steering wheel that was fitted to the Annniversary models.

VDO gauges look beautiful. Small crack in dash.

Seats and door panels still sport their original, blue-silver-black Shetland upholstery fabric, another Silver Anniversary hallmark, and it looks to be in fabulous condition throughout.

Muscular stance of the mighty 911S. Note opening rear quarter windows, a neat trait of the 2.7-liter 911s.

Toothbrush clean engine bay. The matching numbers power plant, *6450384*, boasts 165 healthy horses and runs smooth as silk. Note factory A/C setup.

This 911S checks all the boxes when it comes to performance: it starts, runs, idles, drives, shifts, steers, and handles with aplomb.

The unique sounds of the 2.7 flat six have to be experienced to really be appreciated.

Returning home, we wear big grins on our faces. Theres just no substitute for a vintage Nine-Eleven.

Rarely, if ever, will you find a 1970s 911S that has had so much TLC lavished upon it. If you are looking to own a collectible Porsche that stands out from the rest in regards to looks, history and rarity, this 25th Anniversary Model 911S might just be your ticket to happiness.
