MotoeXotica is pleased to announce another cult classic from the seventies, a Fjord Blue 1976 BMW 2002 Also known as a e10, this 2002 was the epitome of performance available at the time with itandrsquo;s forward thinking design.

Helmut Werner Bandouml;nsch, BMWandrsquo;s director of product planning, and Alex von Falkenhausen, designer of the M10 engine, each had a twoliter engine installed in a 1600-2 for their respective personal use. When they realized they had both made the same modification to their own cars, they prepared a joint proposal to BMWandrsquo;s board to manufacture a twoliter version of the 1600-2. At the same time, American importer Max Hoffmanwas asking BMW for a sporting version of the 02 series that could be sold in the United States.

Finished in the popular Fjord Blue Metallic, the paint job shows good but does show areas of the clear coat peeling and fading. Front and rear aluminum bumpers have an excellent fit and finish that show well. This example is equipped with a Zender color-keyed front air dam. All aluminum trim pieces are present and have a good finish. Weather stripping is still very pliable with little or no drying or shrinkage we could find. The headlights and taillights are in very condition with no hazing or cracks. The paint work is in good condition while this sunroof body e10 appears straight and solid with no evidence of major rust repair, especially in the typical trouble spots on the floors, rockers and shock towers.

Inside, the very desirable blue cloth Recaro front seats both look good but show signs of wear. The rear seat are blue leatherette and in good condition. The blue door panels and carpet compliment the exterior of the car and look fantastic. All gauges are original and function as designed. The dash is in very good condition with only one small crack. This example is equipped factory Blaupunkt radio and Nardi Luisi wood steering wheel in very good condition, with no cracks and a functioning horn.

This car comes equipped with a 2.0L SOHC m10 4 cylinder iron block engine fed by a Weber 2-barrel carburetor. Power is transferred to the wheels by a Getrag 4 speed manual transmission. Driver assist features include, rack andamp; pinion steering, front disc and rear drum brakes with a independent suspension. Aftermarket 14-inch MSW light alloy wheels with performance tires.
