Details: This handsome 1979 Datsun 280ZX represents the last of the 2-seater Z-cars that changed the automotive landscape in the 1970s. As some newer models proveand#44; cars like this will always have a place in our garages and in our heartsand#44; and this Z is a fantastic way to enjoy the ride.

Looking at the shapeand#44; its clear that theres a little bit of E-Type Jag in thereand#44; maybe a hint of Corvetteand#44; and plenty of MGand#44; too. Fastand#44; lightand#44; agileand#44; and affordableand#44; even todayand#44; this Z is a delight. Its also nicer than mostand#44; with a recent repaint in the original Maroon Mist metallicand#44; which is a perfect 70s burnt orange kind of color that still looks great. Its also been fitted with a deeper chin spoiler that accentuates the longand#44; leanand#44; low look of the Z without taking away from the clean overall look. Cars like this were often put away as sunny-day driversand#44; and as a resultand#44; this one shows none of the bumps and bruises of the daily grind. Chrome was still in fashionand#44; so there are plenty of bright piecesand#44; including both bumpersand#44; the stainless around the windowsand#44; and even the rub strips along the sidesand#44; all of which remains in very good shape. Even things like the rubber bumper overriders are supple and havent been cooked by UV raysand#44; suggesting that this car has led a very sheltered existence.

One of the Z-cars biggest successes is the interiorand#44; which is both sporting and functional. The bucket seats were designed by guys who knew the car would be used to its potentialand#44; so they have thicker bolsters than most cars of the periodand#44; and grippy cloth instead of vinyl helps hold you in place. Of courseand#44; all of this remains in great conditionand#44; showing only very minor wear aside from some light discoloration of the plastic partsand#44; most notably the steering wheel and consoleand#44; but its not particularly noticeable. The dash is full of easy-to-read instrumentsand#44; including a row of auxiliary gauges in the centerand#44; a look that is still evident today in the Nissan GT-R. This particular 280ZX is also luxuriousand#44; featuring factory A/Cand#44; power windows and locksand#44; and an AM/FM/cassette stereoand#44; all of which are fully functional. Theres a positively massive trunk area under the rear hatchand#44; because this is the 2-seater modeland#44; and the original carpets show almost no wear or fadingand#44; which is a rare thing in a car with that much hatch glass.

The L28E 2.8 liter inline-six is a fantastic motor. Torqueyand#44; yet eager to revand#44; it was enlarged to better suit American driving tastesand#44; as well as to make the automatic transmission a reality. It still has that same baritone wail that epitomizes big-horsepower inline-sixesand#44; and because its a Nissanand#44; its reliable and smooth. The engine bay is a bit crusty but retains almost all its original equipmentand#44; and that tangle of hoses is how the factory did itand#44; but dont worryand#44; it has all been regularly serviced and is in excellent running condition. An MSD ignition has been added and it fires easily and idles smoothlyand#44; so dont be afraid to rev it. Its quite clean underneath thanks to a lifetime in Georgiaand#44; and it doesnt look like theres much deviation from stockand#44; as it even wears its original catalytic converter. The 5-speed manual transmission is a pleasure to run through the gears and stylish Koenig alloy wheels wear 215/60/15 Kumho blackwall radials for an updated look.

Todayand#44; as when it was newand#44; this 280ZX is a lot of performance for the money. Call today!
