1982 was an interesting year for Corvette, as only the third year to date that no manual transmission was available, and the only year the Crossfire engine was available It was the only engine available that year. The engine was the first with Chevrolets advanced Computer Command Control that achieved better fuel economy, drivability, and performance through the precise metering of fuel; a system that could make eighty adjustments per second to attain this with the dual fuel injectors.

The automatic transmission was a new unit as well this year. The four speed used a higher gear ratio, 3.07:1, and an overdrive fourth gear. It had a better acceleration than previous automatics, and smoother shifting.

This car drives and handles like a new car, with lots of extras and options that make it a great daily driver, but still a lot of fun.
